Looking for Summer Activity for 2.5 Year-old
My 2.5 year-old son is currently enrolled in a mommy-and-me gymnastics class, but we are expecting our second child in May, so we are going to quit the class over the summer and probably pick it back up in Sept. Any suggestions for a weekly activity in the McKinney area for him? I want to put him in something for some social interaction w/other kids over the summer since I stay home with him (and it will be a transition time with a new baby in the house).

Some things that come to mind, none of which may be exactly what you're looking for but...
- swimming lessons
- VBS at area churches
- Lowes & Home Depot have Saturday morning make-it-take its
I live in Allen and the city offers classes each season. I'm sure McKinney does too. We did one last summer and it was great, kiddie fitness, one day a week, and just enough time to get to know the other kids in the class.
Good luck finding just the right thing!

Hi A.,
Every Wednesday morning, from 9-11, Metroplex Gymnastics holds an open gym play session. I take my 15 month old and he loves it. The moms are all great and watch each others kiddos if there's more than 1 child. It's $5 and you can bring the baby and let your 2 1/2 year old roam around. It's located in Allen off Bethany road so it shouldn't be to far for you. Hope this helps.

I know many churches that offer Mother's Day Out Programs have summer camps for preschoolers. The one we go to has 3 weeks of camp (Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-2). It's in Allen (Suncreek United Methodist Church).
I know Allen ISD has summer camps for 2 1/2 year olds as well. I think they are 5 days a week from 9-2. This would certainly give you some free time before new baby comes along!
The other option I can think of is "mommy and me" classes at Gymboree Play and Music. The one is Allen has a class each week, but you can go to "open gym times" several times a week as well.
Good luck finding some fun!
