I have had 3 babies there so far. Having the fourth in June! All were C sections and wonderful experiences. I always had great nurses and they were all so nice and helpful. I know 2 nurses up there now personally and I have to say I think they put the nicest nurses up there!

As far a doctors go, I love my pediatrician. He is located in Newport News though. His name is Dr, Brian Butcher and he is with Pennisula Pediatrics.

Good Luck!

Hi G., I had my son at Riverside Hospital and they were fantastic. I would highly recommend them. One of the main reasons I chose Riverside was because if there were any complications, they have the facilities to take care of the baby whereas I was told the Mary Immaculate would have to fly the baby to the Hospital of Kings Daughter. My opinion time is very precious if there were a problem, hopefully there won't be of course. My pediatrician is Dr. Mark Holman. All I can say, I like him, don't really care for his office help. Need to stay on them on getting messages to him.

I had both children at RRMC. My OB doesn't care for Sentara---he says that he doesn't trust a hospital that doesn't always have a pediatrician on staff so he only delivers at Riverside and Mary Immaculate. I also have a friend who is a mom/baby nurse at Riverside. I have had no problems at all with Riverside and if I were to have another child I would go there again.

If you are interested in something to do while on bedrest....I belong to a local mommies group. Check out the website http://www.community.club-mom.org/phpBB2/index.php
That will give you something to do while you are in bed.

Good luck!!

I delivered my son at Riverside in November due to complications. The staff was pretty nice but the experience wasn't anything special like I was hoping it would be. The rooms are just average and the post-partum room I got had 2 beds in it. Thank goodness they weren't too full or else I would have had a roommate and her baby too!! And I had to go down the hall just to take a shower! (you do have a toilet and sink in the room though but you might have to share if you get a roommate) So if that wouldn't bother you then I'd say Riverside is fine, the staff is really sweet. But if you want a nice birthing room and your own post-partum room I'd recommend Mary Immaculate. They are extra sweet there and the rooms are great in my opinion! Good luck to you.

Hi! I gave birth at Riverside and had a great experience. I had a LONG labor and difficult delivery and when my son was born he had to be resesitated and almost died. The NICU docs and nurses were so good with him and I truely believe they saved his life. He remained in the hospital for a week and they just took such good care of him. I couldn't say enough good things about the hospital and the people who work there. I also think the rooms are way nicer than Mary Immac.- much bigger:)Good luck and try to enjoy the rest before your baby comes:)
