Hello - we are pregnant! And we are also new to Miami, so I am looking for those moms out there that have had babies in Miami. I hear the good hospitals to have a baby are South Miami and Baptist! is this true? What was your experience like? Also, do you have any recommended OB/GYN? Did you like yours? What was he/she like?? Thanks for any help!

THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR RESPONSES SO FAR! I live in Kendall actually - so doctors in the kendall area would be great!

What can I do next?

C.,

I had my baby at South Miami Hospital and I couldn't have been happier with the attention that I got there. I've heard that Baptist isn't quite as good but since I haven't experienced it I can't compare.

I LOVE my ob/gyn. She is friendly but not overly friendly and professional but not gruff. Her name is Michelle Starke. She's located at 7300 SW 62 Place, Miami, FL and her phone number is ###-###-####.

Good luck!

Hello C.,

CONGRATS!!!! On your pregnancy and welcome to Miami. I had my 3 year old son in South Miami Hospital. My experience was great and had no problems what so ever. I also had outpatient surgery there and had a great experience as well.

My OB/GYN was Dr. Hirsch and he was just AWESOME!!! His office is actually across the street from South Miami Hospital.

His telephone # is ###-###-####. It's a group of about 5 doctors and Dr. Hirsch is one of them. My first visit was with Dr. Visoso then after that it was with Dr. Hirsch. They are both pretty busy but the other doctors are good as well.

Well good luck and I wish you and your husband the BEST!!! May you have a great pregnancy, delivery and healthy baby.

take care,
M.

Hi COngrats on your new addition!!!!! and welcome to the Miami area.
I can give you a pretty objective view on doctors and hospitals. I personally due to health and risk issues have given birth with my doctor in Boca Raton but I own a 3d 4d prenatal Ultrasound facility and hear comments about docots and hospitals a lot.
I have to say that I have heard a lot of good comments about Baptist and South Miami. Both are from the same chain and operate under the same corporation. I also have heard about MErcy hospital being an excellent facility. In terms of doctors I have a long list of doctors in different areas that i can reccommend. Where do you live???
I wish you the best .
G.

Hi C.. I had my daughter at Baptist. While I have nothing to compare it to I can tell you that I received awesome care and so did my daughter. I felt very comfortable and satisfied with Baptist. As for my doctor, I absolutely loved him. His name is Dr. Randy Fink. He's funny, he's caring, he's personable, he's relaxing, etc. Exactly the kind of person I wanted at my bedside during the birth of my daughter. If you want more information, let me know. Thanks and good luck.

I moved to Miami last year June and by August I was pregnant with my third baby. I choose the Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates of Kendall, it is a group with numerous of doctors. I gave birth on April 22 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Kendall and the hospital was the best experience I had and this was my third delivery. The rooms were private and beautiful, I felt like I was in a hotel rather than a hospital. I also liked the fact that the baby was with me all the time (unlike the hospital I was in with the second daughter I had to ask them to bring her to me), the only time they took her was to bathe her or when she needed tests. You can also see if you can schedule a tour of the hospital and see for yourself. Hope this helps.

Hi C.,

Welcome to Miami! I love my OBs- 5 of them in the practice. They're called OB/GYN Associates of Kendall. They deliver out of Baptist Hospital. Their number is ###-###-####. They are all really nice, fairly young, 3 women and 2 men, and very professional. I also really like my son's new pediatrician (in case you haven't found one yet). Her name is Esther Marin-Casariego and she is right behind Baptist. Her number is ###-###-####.

Hi C.!!
I´m pregnant to and I´m been doing my investigations about hospitals I think that Baptist, South Miami and Mount Sinai are good options. By the way, The Miami Beach Community health Center ###-###-#### ext 1167)offer lamaze class for free!!, you don´t need to be attended there.
I´m been living in Miami just for two years (I´m from Venezuela), but I believe that I can help you, like other people helped me, so let me know if you need something and I´m going to be happy giving you some information.
Regards,
Mafe
