Looking for Programs Within Our Community for Young Children and Their Families

I am interested in learning what programs people who care for and/or parent young children within the Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Carefree, Cave Creek, and Paradise Valley areas. They can be community programs, child care homes or centers, non profit or government programs, trainings or anything. I need to learn about everything our community has to offer to support parents and caregivers in doing the best job possible with their young children ages birth to five years. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi D., Desert Marigold School is an inspired by Waldorf charter school located in the South Mountain area. Although we are not in the areas you mentioned, we have families who travel from all over the Valley to attend classes. We have a parent/tot program two mornings a week that provides a facilitated supportive environment for parents/caregivers as well educating parents. Please check us out at: arizonawaldorf.org.

Oceanside Ice Arena on McClintok and Mckellips has ice skating for children and their families.
More programs will open up in the summer. Fun family skating on Friday nights.

Oceanside and the hockey league DYHA is a non profit rink. We were just give 50 sets of hockey gear to reach out to children who would want to learn to skate from USA Hockey.

Please check out their website www.dyha.org

I am a parent and member of the organization. My boys play hockey and we want to reach out to the community to get more young children involved.

Hi D.,

I am in the health education business. Our company has many educational programs for parents and children on proper nutrition. Dr. David Katz has just developed a new program for us, we currently have Dr. William Sears and his "Nine Simple Steps", We have Healthy Happy Kids Campaigns where parents can bring their children and learn about proper nutrition together and have some fun doing so!

"Children are being more harmed by poor diet than by exposure to alcohol, drugs and tobacco combined." (Dr. David Katz, Yale School of Public Health - The Wall Street Journal, 3/10/04)
