I am starting to look for private schools in our area for my daughter. She is going to turn 3 in January and I am thinking that she may be able to start kindergarten in 2008 (at 4.5) due to feedback from our pediatrician and teachers/friends. I am willing to drive a small distance for her to attend a good school. THANKS!

What can I do next?

Hi L.:

My older sons (7 and 9) have attended St. Joseph Catholic School since Kindergarten. I am very pleased with the program, and I absolutely love the principal. You don't have to be Catholic to attend, but the tuition is higher for non-Catholic children. It's on the northwest corner of Jupiter Road and Spring Valley. The school office number is ###-###-####, but they are closed now for Christmas break. School opens again on January 3rd. The web site for the church/school is www.stjosephcc.net. Let me know if you have any questions. I'll be happy to answer them.

Regards,
K.

My daughter started at St James Episcopal Montessori School at 9845 McCree in Dallas just this past August. We love it. It is a loving excellent educational environment!!!! If you know anything about Montessori, you will know that it is a wonderful school once you have been there and observed. It is worth your time to check it out. www.stjamesepiscopal.info Our daughter will stay there until she completes the 4th level which is as high as the school goes. I wish they went higher---we would keep her there on thru high school if they did.

Plano Christian Academy is great, it is K-12. My oldest daughter is in first grade there and I have been very impressed with the curriculum. They also have small classes, max of 10, most smaller than that though. www.planochristianacademy.com
