Hey gals! Good Saturday morning to ya! Okay, here's the thing. I REALLY need to tone up and get it shape...but I cannot stand to do the typical work out in a gym or aerobics class and the such. I (in my former life~pre marriage and kids) took tap and ballet for 17 years and was very active in it. I would LOVE to find something for adults (I'm 37 and out of shape~keep this in mind)like this. I would even like to take belly dance lessons. I asked my hubby to take ballroom dance and he said no way, so I just want to find something for myself where I don't feel like a total freak and out of place, but something I enjoy and have fun doing while getting a nice workout. Any ideas???? So if you know of anybody/any place that offers any kind of dance classes for chubby old moms that haven't danced in 10+ years...let me know! :-) You gals are great and I love this website! Have a great weekend! A.

I take an adult ballet class on Wednesday nights at Miss Persis Studio in Arlington. It is a lot of fun and not to expensive. Here is the website: http://www.misspersisstudio.com/

I hope to see you there :)

I used to love taking bellydance with Isis in Bedford before I moved too far out.

There's a place in the Grapevine area that does belly dance classes. I can't remember the name of the place though as I found it after doing a google search.

Cresent Moon dance studio is a great place for belly dance. Also for Tap and Jazz you can look into Act One Dance studo. They offer adult dance classes for many different styles.

They have a belly dancing class at the Roanoke Recreation Center. It may be a little more since you are not a resident, but it's probably less than taking it at a dance studio!

I work out at the Y and they have Hip Hop and Belly dancing. All the classes are included in the monthly workout fee (cardo and weights). It is abt 50.00 a month for a family plan (w/free child care) and about 30 a month for just you (w/free child care). Not bad at all! You may want to check it out!!!

If your hubby does not like Ball Room what about square dancing. My parents got in when they were 50 when they decided they had not friends because they had devoted their past to children. My mom is 80 almost 81 and that is her life. Lost her second hubby this year and her love is to dance. Keeps her fit and active. Pot Lucks and such. Also you do not say where you live. I took some classes at Marcus High evening and they had a list of classes. I was almost ready then chickened out. No partner. I keep getting these e-mails about Gilley's down town they teach dance and swing and two step and such. I see where a lot of Texas boys love to two step. My friend were looking for a dinner theater and when we could not find it we found a dance hall and sat and watched in amazment of the men that had their sweeties dancing. Lots of tall men with little gals. Fun to watch. I wish while I was in N O I had learned the Cajun dancing. Line dancing is fun too. Every one there new that. My step daughter learned in College. I still never caught on. Wish I had with my Day Care would be fun. Good Luck. I would love to go but have a granddaughter I am raising and no time for me. G. W
