I am looking for some books to help my daughter adjust to having a new sibling here soon. She is almost 3 1/2 and really looking forward to being a big sister, but I know her life is about to really change. Any suggestions or thoughts would be helpful. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Karen Katz has great books. Her one on becoming a big sister is Best ever Big sister. Each page starts with "I'm a Big sister." then one page for example says My baby sister has to ride in a stroller. On the opposite page is a picture of baby in stroller and at the bottom it says..."but I can..." then you lift the picture to see the girl on a trike and and it says "ride my trike."
It is a great book and the drawings are very well done.

Mercer Meyer writes wonderful books, and has one specifically for big sisters. This is not a picture book, but I garuntee she will love it! We have almost the whole collection. Since my kids are too grown for the books, I'm keeping them for Grand-kids (that's how much I love his books!)

Happy Reading:)

My husband and I got "I'm a big brother" by Joanna Cole. As the previous mom mention, there is also one on being a big sis too. My son absolutly loved the book and still wears his "I'm a big brother" pin from the hospitol, and still wants us to read the book to him. It makes the older sibliing feel special because it talks about things big brother/sister can do that baby can't. It also talks about things big brother/sister can do to help with the new baby.

Also, at my shower several people brought gifts for the new big brother. This made him feel special, like the change was something to celebrate! To this day we have had hardly any jealousy issues, because we made this a positive thing for him. He's an awesome big brother!

Good luck, and congrats to you and big sis!

We had the same idea for my daughter before my son was born. I got her one called "I'm a Big Sister" by Joanna Cole. It's pretty basic, but cute. If you type that title into Amazon, it will come up with a bunch of other similar things you can choose from.
