Looking for Pediatrician Quakertown Area

My husband and I just relocated from Michigan to Quakertown, PA. We have a 9 month old and are wondering if anyone has any suggestions for good doctors in the area for him. We don't know the area at all yet so we could use some help. Also, any advice on hospitals as far as birthing centers? We won't be thinking about another baby for a little while yet but I have to keep it in mind when choosing my women's doctor. Thanks!

What can I do next?

D., If you do not mind a drive to Doylestown, I have a great OB/GYN for ya' and Doylestown Hospital is well known for its birthing and delivery......I had both my kids there and was very well taken care of. E.

Hi D.. I just asked the same question about a pediatrician. We moved to this area almost 2 years ago and i just dont like the pediatric office we go to. We go to Dr Cevallos and Dr Moise. They are right on 309 in Quakertown but they just dont put the time and effort into appointments like we had where we used to live. So with that i do not recommend that office.

Now as far as hospitals, i had my 1st at Abington and my 2nd at Grandview. I see there are posts about both. Abington was wonderful. They are a huge hospital, the birthing rooms are so nice. I had a pleasant experience with the staff also. Grandview is a small hospital and the birthing room was not even half the size of Abingtons. I was really shocked when i entered the room, i was like wheres all the people gonna go. Actually - you know how after you have your baby they clean them up and stuff? Well they do that in what looks like a closet shared with the room next door. Weird. I mean you cant see the other room unless they open the other door but whatever. In general Grand view was a good experience also, but there were a few unpleasant nurses i experienced. Now just so its fair i do have some bad news about Abington also. Just this year a friend of mine went into labor and went over to Abington. They got her all set up with the 2 bands on her belly (you know 1 for contractions, 1 for babys heartbeat) and apparently they were busy AND short staffed on nurses. So you know how the baby moves around and you can lose the heart beat, its the nurses job to come in and fix it. Well it took them a half hour to come in and fix it, when they came in to do it they couldnt find a heart beat. They had to rush her into a c-section and the baby was born dead. They waited to long to check on her and due to their negligence she lost her baby. I'm sure that could happen anywhere but i think its really horrible. I thought Abington had a lot of birthing rooms, i know Grand View doesnt have a whole lot but their not getting in the same amount of patients.

I hope that helps and if you need anything or have any questions feel free to ask!

Hi,
We just moved to Hatfield which isn't too far from Quakertown I don't think. I am using Kids First Indian Valley. My son (16 months) has been there once and it was a good experience. They came highly recommended.
As for hospitals...I am pregnant and due in July and just did a lot of research to find a hospital I am comfortable with. It is about 40 minutes from here so I'm not sure how far you feel comfortable driving, but I am using Abington Memorial Hospital. They have a NICU right there which was one of my main importances. We went on the tour this past Weds and it looks very nice and clean and everyone was friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice, too and you can room with baby which is what I wanted, or you can keep baby in the nursery.
Good luck!
PS-We lived in MI, too, for about 1.5 yrs. We were in Battle Creek on the southwest side.

there is pennridge pediatrics in sellersville thats about 2 mins from quakertown!

We are actually moving to Ohio next month, so I can empathize with your situation. I want to take my doctors with me!

I'm not sure if this is too far for you, but Kids First-Indian Valley in Souderton, PA, is a wonderful practice. I've seen all but one doctor there and would trust each one 100% with my kids. They are affiliated with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (one of the very best places to go if anything more serious ever happened).

I had my girls at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville. Great experience both times. My OB/GYN is Stoneridge OB/GYN in Sellersville. Fabulous practice. I can't say enough good things about them. Depending on where you are in Quakertown, they might be as little as a ten-minute ride away.

Good luck with your move and adjustment. It is a great area!
