Looking for Others Who Have Had H. Pylori Stomach Infection
I was recently diagnosed with H. Pylori and took the required medicines(PrevPac)for it and completed them about a month ago. Now my symptoms seem to be coming back so I was wondering if I may still have the infection or if something else may be wrong. I have heard this is hard to get rid of and could turn into cancer. My symptoms are mostly chest pain, stomach pain and loss of appetite. Any info about this such as how long it takes to get rid of and if the medicines caused any other problems(i.e. irregular periods) etc. will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and God Bless!

Bismuth, the active ingredient of Pepto Bismal and other generic equivalents is the most effective treatment for H. Pylori I know of. It is cheap & obtsinable OTC. The only se I know of is that overuse can cause incomplete digestion of food, which itself can cause stomach upset, same as all antacids.
Probiotics may help by restoring the normal balance of good GI bacteria that help you digest your food better too.

I had this same issue. After completing the drug regiment, my symptoms did not completely go away. Further testing revealed that it was gone, so I underwent Endoscopy, and was told that I was creating too much stomach acid. Dr. prescribed Prevacid, and that is what helped. I have taken it ever since, and that was about 10 years ago. If I skip my Prevacid for a couple of days, gas and heartburn are intolerable. See your doc again, and good luck.

Dear A.,
I know of several hundred people who have found relief from this bug by taking Vemma as their nutritional supplement. Suffice it to say that the ingredients in Vemma are anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and aloe vera is very soothing among other amazing benefits known to man for hundreds of years. Mangosteen is the queen of fruits and the xanthones in the pericarp have too many benefits to name here. If you would like some documentation, send me an email address and I will return the info to you. Drug "cocktails" are not the only ways to get cured these days I am very glad to say. I hope you will try thinking outside the box and give it a try. There's no risk and if you use it as an adjunct(with your meds) maybe it will help you survive the drugs!

H. Pylori can only be cured by a medicinal cocktail. It includes a high dose of antibiotic, an acid reflux medicine such as prevacid, and I believe a stomach coating such as Pepto Bismol.
Depending on the level of H. Pylori in the body, it may take a few rounds of this cocktail. It has to be completely gone before you stop taking the meds because even one minute bacteria will cause growth.
Also, what is the cause of the H. Pylori? Do you have ulcers? Do you have Acid Reflux? If so, have you been around anyone with H. Pylori? If you have either of these you are susceptible to the Pylori and need to take precautions around others who may have it. Precautions such as, don't eat or drink after them.
God Bless

I have had it and so has my husband and it can come back but the only way to make sure the second time is with a stool sample. I too thought it came back but once they took the stool sample(that's how they tell if you still have it because they cant tell through bloodwork after the first time for some reason)they told me I didn't have it. It can cause ulcers which I have one and have the same symptoms that you have(except for the loss of appetite) usually one dose of meds for 2 weeks gets rid of it but it can in some people take a second dose. I don't see it causing irregular periods as I take prevacid daily for the ulcer/acid reflux and my period is the same as it always has been. This isn'd hard to get rid of if the meds are taken as prescribed. Did you try looking it up on the interent? cancer is only if you get gastric ulcers and they go untreated then it's a possibility to get cancer. I would have your DR check you for an ulcer/acid reflux,GERD,etc because that could be why you are still having problems.good luck and hope you get to feeling better

A.,
I am so sorry to hear that! My best friend suffered from it about 2 years ago. Unfortunately for her, it lasted on and off for months. She also took the H-Pilori meds and was sick for a long time after. She would start to feel better, then get really ill again. After a few months she found that her sinuses were draining and that was flaring it up again (although she didn't have "cold" symptoms). I would be glad to put you in touch with her if you'd like (via email). I know she would be glad to share with you since it was so frustrating and discouraging to her. She did finally fully recover, but several months later. Be encouraged - and eat very carefully (not spicy foods, etc.). Please let me know if you'd like to speak with her. My prayers are with you!
