Looking for OB in SLC Area
Hi I just moved here from Cali and am looking for a GREAT OB in the SLC area. I live in Cottonwood Heights. Also I want a great hospital to deliver at. I am not too concerned with insurance because I have a PPO. So any recommendations of an OB and a hospital would be awesome! Thank you so much.

I hear a lot of people like Dr. Mark Curtis (at Western OB/GYN...it's on about 5600 S. and State Street). I loved delivering at IMED (it's the huge hospital off of State Street and 5300 South). It's new (like 2 years old) and everything is really nice there.

I think this is a hard questions because it depends on what you want from your care and what kind of philosophy you have, a good doctor to you, might be terrible to someone else. If you want to email me about what you have in mind for you care I could give you a better answer.
I will second the recommend for Dr. Sharp, but depending on what you want there may better hospital choices than the U of U. Other good options are Julie Jones CNM and Danielle Demeter CNM (I know you asked for docs, but some people don't realize that a CNM is an option too), or Jason Jones OB/GYN.
Good luck,
H. (birth doula)

Hey there! You may want to check this topic, as I know I just gave out a recommendation last week or so.
But, in any case, my OB is Dr. Howard Sharp. He's the dept head at the U of U and AWESOME. He may or may not be taking patients. His secretary's name is J. and she's also incredibly helpful. I delivered my last baby at the U and had a GREAT experience. There's always a few crappy nurses anywhere you go, so its not to say there weren't those, but our baby was also in the NICU for a couple days and overall, it was a great experience all considering. I started my pregnancy and labor with a midwife so Dr. Sharp was a Godsend after an emergency c /section and 22 hours of natural labor. He was skilled and took the time to repair my old incision from a previous c/section and then just 10 weeks after birth, sat in on another massive surgery and removed an ovarian mass. He's incredibly kind and caring, knows me by name and I cannot say enough good about him! My previous OB was Dr. Kimball Lloyd, who practices at IHC Cottonwood clinic(54th and state at the IMC). I was NOT a fan of them. They overbilled me, the office manager was extremely rude, and though I've heard of lots of people loving that office, I wouldn't go there if my life depended on it!
Good Luck!

I would also recommend Dr. Russell Smith at Alta View Hospital. He delivered my first 2 children and will be delivering my next in approximately 3 weeks! He is the best I've been to.

I live in the SLC area. I can't really recommend an OB because mine only practices high-risk OB. But I delivered my triplets at LDS Hospital. I would do it again in a minute.
good luck, and welcome to Utah!
