Looking for OB/GYN Recommendation in SW Suburbs
I am looking for a new OB Dr. in the SW Suburbs. Someone who will take time with you and you have had good experiences with. I am newly pregnant and my I was not happy with the OB drs. that delivered my son. Also, any recommendations on the best hospital to deliver at? I was not very happy with my Palos Hospital delivery experience. Thanks!

I myself switched to a doctor closer to home last year and had my 9 month old son through Dr. Ka-Widmann of the Partners in Obstetrics and Women's Health clinic. She is associated with Silver Cross (where I had my son...just incredable people and great facilitiy) and St. Joe's in Joliet (heard good things from friends who have had babies there but never experienced first hand). Here is her infomation for both offices http://www.silvercross.org/physfind/
I give her a top score and the other two docotrs in the practice where so nice to me at the hospital but I never visited with them before that. Good luck!

Hi,
After I had my daughter I switched doctors. I used to go to Dr. Mar who is affiliated with Brusca, Bray, Mar and one other doctor. My really good friend suffered some miscarriages and she recommended Dr. Luke. I went to see him and I highly recommend him. He is in Oak Lawn, near Christ Hospital. He is so nice, friendly and spends time answering questions. I had my daughter at Palos also, and although I thought they did a good job there, that hospital is only a level II so they're not equipped to handle NICU patients and things of that nature. We had to have them transport our baby to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn due to complications at birth. They are wonderful there. Even thought I didn't give birth there, we spent quite a bit of time there visiting her while she was in NICU and then homebound nursery. If I get pregnant again, I will be having the baby at Christ Hospital. Hope this helps.

I have heard several stories about bad Palos delivery experiences. I originally would have delivered there, but instead I delivered at St. Francis in Blue Island. My mother-in-law worked there for many years and had her 3 kids there, so I thought I'd try it. It was like a hotel with a dozen mommies to take care of me! The nurses were wonderful, the food choices were great, I had my own private room with a pull out bed for my husband to spend the night, flexible visitation hours for my family and friends, and I still call the nurses in the nursery with questions every few month because they are so knowledgeable. And Donna, the lactation consultant, was a lifesaver -I would have given up without her! My medical group is Pronger Smith which has offices in Tinley Park and Blue Island. My OB-GYN is Angela Risser. She's great to talk to (I always went with a list of questions). My son was delivered quickly and I didn't even notice when she stitched up my episiotomy -she was so fast and efficient. I also saw three other OB-GYN at Pronger Smith who were all wonderful.

I lost a baby when I was 5 mo. along and also had a bad experience with my OB that I was using. Once I became pregnant again I was looking for the uttmost it care, respect and pampering as well as the best hospital with the best facilities shoudl there be any issues. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Michael Brusca in Orland Park. And, I would have my baby at Christ Medical Center. Dr. Brusca's # is ###-###-####. Good Luck and God Bless! There are 3 other doc's in Dr. Brusca's office as well and they are all terrific.

I would recommend Dr. John Bush he has two locations, Orland Park ###-###-####) and Flossmoor ###-###-####). I've been going to him for about five years and really like him. I originallysaw him at his Orland office but switched to the Flossmoor office because it was a shorter wait time. He delivers at Palos and South Suburban in Hazel Crest which is where I had my son in December.

I am new to this website, but I thought I would give my first response since I feel so strongly about my OB/GYN. I also see Dr. Bush in Flossmoor and delivered my first child at South Sub. He is wonderful!! I have quite a few friends that also go to him. He has such a great bedside manor. There is never a silly question that he won't answer. He makes you feel comfortable - well as comfortable as you can be in a pregnancy!

I personally go to a OB/GYN downtown Chicago.I live in the far south suburbs. But my dr is worth the trip downtown (mind you I go every 2 weeks). Her name is Dr. Bonnie Wise. It is an all women dr office and they are all EXCELLENT! I switched dr's around 15 weeks when I was pregnant with my twin boys and gave birth to them at 25 weeks. Dr. Wise was so loving and caring and concerned and just very motherlying (if that is a word). She took time to talk to my husband to explain what was going on and what he needs to expect with twins born that soon and didn't leave my side the entire time. I am now 29 weeks pregnant and she is the one I go to. She will sit with me and talk to me about anything and for as long as I need her to talk to. She calls me back within the day when I call and leave a message. She is just fantastic. I would NEVER go to anyone else to deliver my children. Even though this is our last. But she will be the one giving birth to my little girl. However, I did get to meet with a couple of the other lady dr's in her office and they are all amazing and very caring and sweet. I can't say enough of how wonderful they are. They are affiliated with Northwestern Memorial Hospital and that is where I gave birth to my sons and that is where my daughter will be born. The staff from the interns to the nurses (I was put on Mag Sulfate and my nurse literally didn't leave my side from the time I was put on it til I delivered and she was amazing as well) to the Special Care nursery (NICU) are FANTASTIC! My OB/GYN's phone number is ###-###-####.
GOOD LUCK! T.

Good Morning,
When I had my twins I did not have an OB in the SW suburbs. My doctor was Dr. Sondra Summers at Loyola Family Health Center in North Riverside and I delivered at Loyola Hospital. Dr. Summers was wonderful and so was Loyola. I couldn't be more pleased.
Regards,

I have 4 children and the first was delivered by Dr. Bush from Orland, who I didn't meet until it was time to deliver - my other doctor didn't think that a first time mom could deliver a baby in a mere 15 minutes (first contraction to delivery!) and Dr. Bush was walking down the hallway and delivered my son at Palos. Even though it was a very odd situation, Palos for me was wonderful. My other 3 children were delivered by Dr. Umpai out of Joliet. She is absolutely wonderful. My friend who is a nurse uses her also because she is just so caring and wonderful. My 3rd child was born premature and spent 2 weeks on life support at St. Joes Hospital in Joliet and I can not say enough wonderful things about the hospital and staff. They saved him 3 times and we always had a helicopter on call to rush him to a higher trauma level hospital if needed. They were available 24 hours a day to answer any questions and calm any fears. The nursing staff and doctors were amazing. My son went from us being told to expect the worse within the next 24 hours to going home in a matter of 3 days. He was constantly held, stroked or talked to whenever I was not there (only a few hours a day!!) and now he is the healthiest 7 year old I have ever seen. We get invited back to visit with the nursing staff and doctors every year at the NICU reunion. All the nurses and doctors still remember him - 7 years later!!! That shows how vested this staff is with their patients!! When I had my 4th child at St. Joes, it was 2 days before christmas, they were wonderful with making sure that I could make it home with her for Christmas to be with the rest of the kids. I was also a high risk with her because of the last pregnancy. Dr. Umpai called me every couple of days to check to make sure that I was fine and I saw her every 2 weeks.
I can not say enough good things about St. Joes and Dr. Umpai.
Good luck on your search and pregnancy
