I'm looking for an OB/GYN in the Lutz/Tampa area, who delivers at St Joseph's Women's Hosp. and also accepts Medicaid. I'm late in my pregnancy and all I seem to be hearing from the offices I've called is that they don't take Medicaid, they've reached the max for Medicaid patients until late spring, or they don't take new patients with Mediciaid so late in the pregnancy. Any help would be greatly appreciated

What can I do next?

Have you considered using a midwife w/ a birthing center? They tend to be much less rigid about payment stuff. You can do a search on midwifery.org to find someone in your area. Some have priviledges to deliver at hospitals also.

Good Luck

I am also about 5 months pregnant and live in Carrollwood / Lutz area. I go to Carrollwood OB/Gyn. They are located at the Carrollwood University Community Hospital. They are not affiliated with the University Hospital and actually deliver at St Josephs.

They also accept Medicaid.

The office is really nice and all the doctors and staff are really wonderful. I have a high risk pregnancy and they have been fantastic.

The office number is ###-###-####.

Good Luck!!

You can contact the St. Joseph's Hospital referral line and they can give you all the information you need . The doctor that delivered my 2 children is Dr. Shaffi, Sohrab. He is located on Habana Ave, right around the corner from St. Joseph's Woman's and he accept medicaid. Good Luck!
