Looking for Non Religious Preschools in Dallas
I am a new mother and stay at home mom to our two month old boy. I am hearing advice that I need to research and possibly get my son on preschool wait lists now? Can anyone recommend a good non-religious preschool in Dallas, preferably in the Lakewood area? And are wait lists for good preschools really that long? Thanks for any advice!

Hi Kendall,
I just moved to the Mesquite area with 4 children under age 5 and have spent a lot of time online researching preschools. One that I'm really interested in is White Rock Montessori. Their website is : whiterockmontessori.org It looks like a great program and apparantly you do need to get on their waiting list asap. Their website has a great article about their school that was published in D Magazine a few years back.
Hope this is of some help - C. Joyner

The wait lists are really that long!!! I have a 5 month old and the most stressful thing I dealt with before returning to work was finding a daycare that I was comfortable with. try this website: www.txchildcaresearch.org
Good Luck

Hi K., unfortunately I don't have any referrals for good non-religious pre-schools....in fact, I was hoping you had received some good ones from other Mamasource moms that you might share with me! After reading your question, I got a little freaked out b/c my son is 14 months old, and I hadn't even thought about pre-school! Please let me know what you found out. Thanks!

Well, there's "good" and then there's "popular". Depends on what you're looking for. There are so many different kinds of preschools for different tastes.
There's half day preschools that only go until noon and then there's full day preschools that go until 2:30 or 3pm, then there's preschools who offer extended hours care for working parents.
I have my 4 year old at Dallas Day School where they also offer extended hours care because my husband and I both work. They are located in East Dallas off Haskell Avenue across from Cityplace Market. Their address is 4242 Office Parkway and their number is ###-###-####. I've also heard some really good things about Highlander School on Plano Rd. and White Rock Montessori.
