I'm sending this on behalf of a good friend. Her teenage daughter has been experiencing severe headaches and memory loss. It has been occurring for awhile before her daughter mentioned it to her. They took her for an emergency MRI on Wednesday, but won't have the results for a couple days. They've noticed that her pupils are different sizes and are hoping to find a Neurologist that will work with someone under 18 years old. Any recommendations would be appreciated!!

Go to Loyola in Maywood. They have the best doctors there. It is worth the trip. Take 55 north to 1st avenue, pass up brookfield zoo and you are right there. That is where we took my son. It is a learning hospital, so everyone is up to date on everything! Good Luck

I go to Dr. Hurley - His office is in the Heart Center at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet. His phone # is ###-###-####. He is a VERY conservative doctor and does the least invasive procedures possible. He has an excellent "bedside manner", takes the time to explain things to you and will answer all your questions no matter how many you have.

I know of a great neurologist but he is not in Naperville. HE is located in Oak lAwn at Christ hospital. My son had reconstrutive skull surgery at the age of one and Dr. Hahn was our neurologist. We loved him. The Childrens hospital there is great. We had to stay for a week and I have no complaints. His nurse who I talked to very often on the phone couldn;t have been any sweeter. It is far to travel but he was the best neurologist for our son. If you want more information let me know. My son only needed one surgery and is now a healthy 7 year old boy playing football.

I went to a neurologist when I was in highschool and he really was a great dr. I had a tumor. His name is Dr. Zelkowitz in Flossmore. I know it's not exactly in the Naperville area (approx. 45 minutes) but he's worht the trip. Good luck, and my prayers are with your friend and the family. Scary stuff to deal with!

Children"s Memorial neurology team saved my daughter's life.

Their team is affiliated with Dupage Hospital.

Calling 1800 KIDS DOC will allow you to find doctors in their network to work with in your area.

If you call to their main neurology number at the downtown hospital, they will also give you referrals. Ask to speak to a nurse and you should get an awesome referral.

Michael Caron, MD is out of Edwards Hospital in Naperville and is AWESOME. He is very busy, and will sometimes review MRI films for you before an appointment is open. I worked with his patients and shadowed his in his office (I'm a PT) and he is very thorough. Wish your friend good luck.

I see Dr. Dzamashvili (pronounced Da-ma-she-vey-lee) and have since I was 15. He accepts patients as young as 15 and can continue seeing them well into old age. He works through Edward Hospital and Central Dupage Hospital. He has an office at CDH and one in Winfield. He is an excellent neurologist. If your friend is interested in more a pediatric neurologist, try Dr. Homsi in Naperville.

Dr. Dzamashvili's phone number is ###-###-####. Dr. Homsi's number is ###-###-####.

H.,
My son who is 5 just had a CT scan as well as an MRI and EEG because he too was having headaches and he was experiencing vomiting too. We saw Dr. Shah out of Lutheran General in Park Ridge. He wrote the order and we got all of the testing done at Edwards Hospital in Naperville. He was a excellent doctor, very very patient and thorough. We have seen two doctors out of Children's Memorial in Chicago in the neurology department and I prefer Dr. Shah out of any other doctor that we have seen. The staff was great too! I wish your friend the best and let me know who she decided to see.

Hello- I just saw your post now. I have used Dr. Anmar Katerji a pediatric neurologist for my children who have had some seizures etc. (long story) in the past. THankfully I havent' seen him in a few years because my kids are fine. But HE IS WONDERFUL He works out of CHrist in Oaklawn I think. He also works out of Edward Hospital in Naperville. where I live. He is fantastic and is sooo knowledgable. I can't say enough about him on e mail.
I am wondering if seizures may be a problem for your friends daughter. I unfortunately have heritiary epilepsy. I have suffered from headaches for YEARS- sometimes everyday and lots of migraines. I also have memory loss- long term not so much short term, but I am not a Dr., but memory loss can be the sign of repeated seizures. They do actually cause brain damage if left untreated. Please do not scare your girlfriend I am just passing on my experience. Sorry I hope it is not seizures... Best of luck to you .
