Definitely--Debi Lesnick from Northshore (a private practice with OBs if you need consult).
She is in Evanston and Glenview
the numbers are: ###-###-#### in Ev, ###-###-#### in GV

She and Gaye are both warm, listen, advocate for you and follow up with you for weeks afterward.

Hi R.- Congratulations! I saw that a lot of other Moms already told about West Suburban Midwives but I had to reiterate how truly wonderful they are and that's not saying enough. Gayle attended the birth of our daughter. All of them are great. I never felt like a patient going to them but more like a friend. I loved that everything I wanted my birth to be they are advocates for and encourage. I will definitely go to them the next time around.
I will say though that I was not happy with West Suburban Hospital's post natal care but I was there to have my child with a phenomenal midwife not to have excellent care from nurses. I just had to ask a lot for the things I needed. I was only there for 24hrs. so it wasn't awful.
I was very satisfied with how respectful they were of our requests for the care of my daughter and the Pediatrician was great. Our daughter was with me the whole time and my husband and I bathed her ourselves. Oh, also the midwives welcome husbands, partners and siblings to be apart of all the appointments. So by the end they knew my husband just as well as the knew me which made for one excellent birth team. I hope for you a healthy and happy birth experience and I hope you are as happy with Gayle, Julie and Hillary as we were.

Take care,
C.

I don't know where Elmwood Park is but I see the midwives out of Northwestern Physicians Group at Prentice. I love them, especially Julie and Eileen.

Hi R.-

I had a fabulous experience with a woman's place off of Rockwell.

Here is the link

Because of some other groups that I am involved in, I met several women that have used Jen and Jewel and love them as much as I did.

Good luck!!

Hi there! I just went through prenatal care & natural childbirth with the West Suburban Midwives in Oak Park. I can't explain how WONDERFUL they were! There are 3 of them--Gayle (who was at my birth), Hillary, & Julie, and they're all incredible women. The prenatal care was fantastic, & they're very respectful of your decisions, they never push any idea down your throat. They work out of West Suburban Medical Center, where there are 2 Alternative Birthing suites with water tubs. I'd planned on having a waterbirth. As it turned out, I went into labor on a full moon, so most of the rooms in L&D were taken, including both ABC rooms, so I had to use a regular room. But my midwife was amazing! I'm pretty sure that they're the only practice in the state that will let you deliver IN the water. Everyone else I found only let you LABOR in the water. I can't say enough wonderful things about them--here's their website:

Good luck to you!

I also delivered with Julie from West Sub Midwives. It was fabulous. By the end of the pregnancy and delivery, I felt like I was visiting very smart friends :) instead of "medical professionals." I highly, highly recommend them!

As mentioned before, I highly recommend both the midwives at North Shore (Debi Lesnick) and West Suburban Midwives - (Gayle Riedmann, Julie, and Hilary). The only thing about West Suburban Midwives is that you will deliver at West Suburban Hospital. The birth experience itself was great - the postpartum portion was just ok. I found that the postpartum nurses at Evanston (where you would deliver if you went with North Shore) were more on top of things than at West Sub.

Except - West Suburban is closer to you - Evanston would be quite far.

The Midwifery and Women's Health group at 7339 W Madison in Forest Park has a pretty great group of midwives. They deliver at West Suburban hospital. Shirley Moore is such a great lady. This group delivered my baby. It was a great birthing experience. You may also want to Google Greta Gulezian. She used to be with the above practive, but has since moved on. She was also a really great midwife. Good luck with your search!
