Looking for Location Suggestions for 1St Birthday Party in Kane County

Hi moms! I'm looking for ideas/suggestions for a location for my son's 1st birthday party which we'll be celebrating the last weekend in September. Free or cheap would be preferable. I'm thinking about an outdoor pavilion or shelter or something along those lines, but would love any other ideas you might have. We'd like to stay in or very close to Kane County (Geneva, Batavia, St. Charles, Aurora, Elburn or closely surrounding area). I would love and greatly appreciate *specific* location suggestions.

For the party in order to keep it simple we're going to do mid-afternoon and just have munchies and cake. I'm already set on a Curious George theme so if that helps bring any inspiration for locations to mind... maybe something jungle-y? =) With close friends and a large family it will probably be about 40-50 people.

Thanks so much!
L.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks everyone for the ideas! We ended up booking Les Arends Forest Preserve park on Route 31. (Thanks Candy!) They have a pavilion and a playground and bathrooms. And the best part... it's free to reserve if you live in Kane County. Hooray! Thanks again!

What about Phillips Park in Aurora? I believe they have pavilions that you can reserve and the Zoo is right there. Admission to the zoo is free, there is a tram tour and a playground also. There are no monkeys at the zoo but there are other animals.

There is a forest preserve on 31 across the street from Moose Heart that has a pavilion and a play ground right by with bathroom facilities also available. We take our daughter there because the playground is partially shaded by trees. I have thought to use the area for myself for gatherings but have not yet used it. With all the trees you could make it into a jungle like theme easily.

Hi L.- Wheeler park in Geneva on 1st street north of state is a nice shelter/park and has minigolf housed outside the huge park.
Good Luck

Hi L.,
I would highly suggest to check out all the forest preserves and parks in the area. As Bethany said, Wheeler Park is really nice and there's also Memorial Park in Batavia that has 2 parks for different ages, covered picnic area, great parking. If you go to
http://www.bataviaparks.org/park21.htm. That's the website for it through the batavia park district and from there you can also look through all the differnt parks and facilities in the area. I believe that they also have places to rent.
Good luck,
K. :~)
