I was wondering if anywhere in brandon, riverview, valrico area there are any hoilday events that take place every year? Holloween haunted houses, or thanksgiving parades, chirstmas parades? We looked for things last year but only found handurson farm for holloween. Would love to find a nieghborhood with holiday lights, the ones that go all out. We used to have one where we lived before and it was so nice driving threw the neigherhood on hay barrel rides. Thanks in advance for all your help,

T.

P.S. We can travel outside of that area too, just wanted to give an idea of where we are.

What can I do next?

Oh boy have I got a treat for you! You won't want to miss Christmas Lane in Dover (near Brandon)! You can read more about it at http://christmaslane.org/index.html.

Our entire neighborhood gets together and we all head over there together and all of our kids have a blast there together! It is pretty amazing!

Smiles!

Good Morning T.,
Yes, the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce and the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office host Trick or Treat Street...Call the Chamber office to find out the time it starts, they have Halloween costume contests, old time fascades that various business put up and decorate for the wee ones. It is usually held at the Riverview High School grounds. I am not involved as I used to be, but it is lots of fun. As I understand it, the Annual Christmas Lighted Boat parade, Politically Correct Police (PC police), have mandated that it be called the "Holiday Boat Parade or some such nonsense, since it has been outsourced to the community again...check with the Chamber about this one also. The TBO people usually have articles regarding Christmas lights in various neighborhoods. Chamber office number is ###-###-#### Good luck, and hope to run into you sometime.

In Brandon there is a neighborhood that goes all out with Christmas lights - it is Brandon Forest. Go north from 60 on Parsons and it is on the right before you get to Wheeler. On Christmas Eve they line the streets with candles, elves pass out candy when you first drive in and they play Christmas music. It is a great neighborhood to drive through.

Sorry but there really aren't a lot of holiday celebrations around like there are in the northern states. There are a few pumpkin festivals. Also there is a nice Christmas parade in Plant City. AAA magazines have a lot of the events listed in them and you get them free if you have AAA. Also you can google holiday events for the area. There is a big carnival/arts craft show on 579 in Seffner in November usually. There is also one on Highway 60. You can also go to the visitor centers for each town and get a lot of this information. Events change so you may get all geared up to go to something only to find it is no longer there. There is a Tomato Festival in November in Palmetto.
A Green Bridge Festival in Palmetto in March. There are steam and gas engine shows once a month all over the state and they are very interesting and educational at the same time. I know I was very dissapointed when I moved here as we missed all the fun stuff that went on in Michigan. The great Halloween Hay Ride and Bon Fire, the Big Homecoming parade and bon fire. The Christmas parade that was bigger than all of them together down here. The Halloween parade where all the kids were dressed in their costumes. I could go on and on. But honestly, there isn't a lot here in Florida.

I posted about this stuff last year and they took it down :( We go to the Halloween Horribles Parade at the Brandon Library. Christmas Lane is wonderful! The Gaylord Palms in Orlando has a beautiful ice sculpture during the holidays. Can't wait to see more options. I'll post more when I think of them. Brandon had the 4th of July parade this summer, that was fun!
