Looking for Inexpensive Room/gymnasium to Rent for 4 Yr Old B-day Party

I am looking for a place to rent for a few hours to have my son's Birthday party in December. I live in the Lenexa area and have already tried the Lenexa Community Center and Senior Center. Both buildings are unavailable until after the 1st of the year due to renovations. Also I tried the VFW on 96th and Pflumm and they are asking an extraodinary amount (at least in my mind) to rent there. My plan is to have a "messy night" type party (for those familiar with Messy Nights Sponsored by Parents as Teachers. So, does any one have any suggestions of a place I could contact to see what there availability might be? Or does any one have any other birthday party ideas that I could do?

What can I do next?

i dont really no what "messy night" is if you could elaborate, but my 5 year old just had a birthday last week at powerplay and it was very inexpensive it goes offf of points i put $30 on a card and got 130 pnts which are used for games and rides, and they have a all you can eat buffet wich is only 3.99 a person. i had like 6 people show up and only spent $70, its great.i dont know if its what your looking for but it was a great birthday .

I know this isn't along the messy night theme, but I talked to the people at Dickinson Theatre in Olathe (at the great mall) and they said they have a party room for $25 and then you can see a movie for like $4 a person. Not too bad for that.
HTH!

You might also look into the Shawnee Civic Center. It's not too far and it's right next to a swimming pool if you wanted to add that to the party. It's at Johnson Dr. and Pflumm. We also like Power Play but have never been there for a birthday party. We went when the A/C was off, so it was hotter than hell there. I hope it's working now that it's mid-July! Good luck!

I don't know if it would be to far for you, but you might try the Civic Center in Spring Hill (just past Olathe on 169). They have all kinds of classes and things there with a pretty good sized gym, I just don't know if you have to be a resident or anything. Also, what exactly is a "messy night"?

I had my son's first birthday party at Gymboree Play and Music in Prairie Village. THey also have gyms in Olathe and Overland Park and celebrate up to 5 years. They have activities provided so the 'messy' thing would be out. It was a GREAT time and very little work for my family (no cleaning).

You could try the gym at your local elementary school. Technically, you pay taxes for it so it may be available for your use.
