Looking for Ideas on Craft Fairs and Places to Get My Business Started

Mom's, I started my own business creating the big flower top headbands (got tired of paying boutique prices, so now I sell them for half) and am looking for craft fairs, or even hair salons or baby/children's stores that might be interested in stocking them, would love any ideas you all may have. I also would be open to having a booth at MOPS groups, mom's groups, play groups whatever- they are totally cute and a super deal (and would be happy to incentive the hostess). Thanks in advance!

Hey B.-

I make my own jewelry...so I know the dilemma you are in! Around the holidays there are tons of craft fairs going on at the high schools in your area. Also if you want to get your feet wet, you could also try a farmers market that is not to strict about the items that they sell. And if your stuff is really good...try selling to a boutique.

I have my own business as well.
A good way to find expos/craft shows is to look in your local paper. By me the Daily Herald is really good at lising local events. Sometimes there are even ads looking for crafters.
You could have an open house if you know others with their own businesses.
You could also try googling vendor fairs.

You could try getting on etsy.com. A lot of cute handmade goods are sold through this website.

Just a couple of outside thoughts... Is there a Farmer's market in your area that may allow local artisan booths? There are a ton of art fairs in and around the city, but I have no idea how much a booth is for one, I'm sure they vary. Maybe you could share a booth with someone at an event to keep costs down. Maybe a local church bizarre? Good luck with your new business.
