I read one once where someone took a picture frame and had a photo of the family and then put a card that said something along the lines of
picture frame $1
photo session $10
knowing there are really 4 people not just 3 in this photo Priceless.....

It just so happened that we told our family/friends at my husbands 40th bday party. We brought out a cake with one of our ultrasound pics on it and had them put Carl Baby 2007 (at the time we didnt know sex) and let our parents open the box. It was hilarious to see their expression when they saw the cake!! Priceless!!

We mailed "congratulations on your new grandchild" cards to the grandparents without telling them we were pregnant so they got the message in a surprise card! They were happy!

Hi, we are a bunch of gamblers in my family, so we took one of our Diamond cards and I typed on label for the name "future Soch" and gave it to my Mom - it was really neat to see her face!!! For the other side of the family, we bought Grandma, Grandpa and Auntie shirts and gave it to them...that was neat! I also love the idea of (if you have an older sibling) to wear a shirt that says I am the older brother/sister. Hey, you should just wear a shirt that has an arrow to your belly and see if someone notices it! ha!
Congrats, and best of luck...

Is this your first baby? When I was pregnant w/ my 2nd child, we had a t-shirt made for my older son that said "I'm going to be a big brother." He wore it to our family gatherings, and we just waited for someone to notice what his shirt said.

When I announced I was pregnant we were celebrating my moms birthday. So I inlcuded a baby bib in the gift and everyone figured it out. Also, my sister(when she told my mom) had my mom look through some photos and in there was an ultrasound pic. Congrats on the new baby!

All of our family lives out of town, so to keep from having someone be upset for not being the 'first' to know we sent out cards to announce our first pregnancy. The cards were pastel in color and had the due date printed on the inside. I added some little baby confetti and mailed them all on the same day. Then, we waited to see who would call us first. It was hard not to tell, but it was so worth it to wait and have each family member call and tell us about getting the cards, what they were doing when they opened it, if they 'got' it right away and so on.

For my sister's first, it was around Christmas that she wanted to tell the family, so she bought us each a shirt that said "World's Greatest" grandma, grandpa and aunt and made us open those gifts at the same time. We were puzzled for like .02 seconds, then we all squealed with delight. It was really fun. Then we all wore the T-shirts to the hospital when the baby was born--we didn't even plan that, we just were each so excited to become an aunt, grandma, and grandpa. It made for really cute pics.
If your pregnant now, Christmas is probably too late, but maybe someone's birthday or anniversary is coming up?
Congratulations!!!!! :-)
