Hi Moms!
We are a Christian family of 3 looking for a bigger place to live. We now live in Chicago Ridge in a 2 bedroom apartment. My husband drives 100 miles round trip to work every day (he works in Elgin) and our church is located in Lombard.
We are looking to rent either a 2 bedroom house or townhouse w/ a basement or a 3 bedroom house or townhouse, no basement; or a 3 bedroom condo or apartment. We can only afford up to $900 per month. It is definately taking a leap of faith for anyone, but I hope there is still a little trust out there is this world! We need someone to take a chance on us, we are a good Christian family, that just doesn't make a lot of money, but needs the room! My husband needs to not put so much wear and tear on the car and we want to move closer to our church as well. We are looking in these cities:
Lombard, Villa Park, Wheaton, Glendale Heights, Bloomingdale, Elmhurst, Addison, Glen Ellyn and surrounding communities.
Thank you so much for reading!
God Bless

I would suggest Carol Stream and Glendale Heights. They are more affordable areas.

I think for your price range, you might find something in Villa Park, Westchester and the surrounding suburbs. It will be harder to find something cheaper in Elmhurst, Wheaton & Glen Ellyn, but hopefully not impossible. Have you posted anything at your church, or let them know you are looking? That is a great place to start. You might also try posting at some other churches in the area.

Good luck to you,
T.

I don't have a rental for you but you may want to open yourself up to other close by areas as well as already suggested. One thing I would caution though is if you do see something on Craigslist, do not agree to see an apartment or home alone. I know a guy that was met at an apartment and he was jumped by the "owner" and beat pretty badly. You would think a guy would be pretty safe. He corresponded totally by email, never phone. It turned out the "apartment" was a condo in foreclosure. I also know people that have successfully found apartments on Craigslist so don't discount it as a good source, just make arrangements to go with people. And checking daily is a good idea since things can be taken very quickly.

Hi K.:

I have been helping a friend and her family to find affordable housing. I was surprised to see many options on Craig's List. It has been their best resource. I suggest checking there daily. I wish I had a rental option for you, but I don't. I do understand the long commute to work and not only the wear and tear on the car, but the added time away from family. I wish you the best of luck in your search!

I would google "houses for rent in ..." the areas you want, but woodridge or lisle may be cheaper and still near lombard, but i think you will find something afordable. Or have your husband stop in those areas and get their local paper at 7 eleven or gas station and look in there. But you can usually pull up the local papers on the internet too. Try "lombard newspaper" or whatever town you want. I think you will be able to find something for your family. Also ask at your church if anyone knows of houses for rent nearby, if you havent already.
