Tami Dove, of Dove Insurance, has been a God-send for our family. Every year she finds us the most affordable health plan and finds one to fit our needs. We have 3 different health insurance plans, but it's the only way we can afford it. Her web site offers instant health insurance quotes too:

hi!
my hubby recently quit his job and we were looking too. our pediatrician's office manager (they handle all that billing/insurance stuff) recommended humana and we researched it and went with it. the state program CHIP is there for the children, we tried to get it but we had too much income to qualify. ask your OB's office or the kids' pediatrician office. they can recommend companies that they already accept so you won't have to change doctors. go online to the different companies and research private insurance. or just go to the website, get their number and call them. my hubby spent a LOT of time on the phone with the people at these places and we weren't even policyholders. they were all very nice and if they couldn't help us, often they could recommend another company, so we could follow the trail that way. Make sure you find someone who will cover you and your baby, as well as your kids' well visits and shots. i think many have provisions for household members (like your mom), but we didn't have that, so i'm not sure. good luck!

Talk with several differnt insurance agents. Mostly independants. They usually carry more than one carrier. There are not many health insurance carriers that will take a pregnant woman and or existing health issues without a waiver on those illness for up to five years. Also check with your state government. There are some states that carry that kind of insurance. Good Luck!

Go to your local health clinic or health clinic and ask about OEPIC. I have it and I only pay $8.85 a month. They go off what you make.

G.,
As Cerise said, do look into the CHIP program. Also, if you don't have much income, you might qualify for Medicaid for both you and your children. You might check into whether your mother is eligible for Medicare or SSI disability assistance.

Have you checked into the CHIP program. It is health insurance for children but I believe they will cover you too if you are pregnant. It is based on you income so you would have to qualify. If you google it I am sure you could find some info. Good luck!
