Looking for Good Play Kitchen for Kids

We want to get our kids a play kitchen this year. There is one in the nursery room they stay in for an hour before church (while my hubby practices with the praise team) and they both love it. My son is 4, and so I'd like a decent sized one that he can play with-even knowing it'll probably still be a little small is okay, but we don't want one of the really small ones. Also, I babysit, so I'm figuring we'll have 2 4yr olds playing with it, plus my 1yr old, plus we want to have at least one more child, so we'd really like it to be very durable. My sister-in-law bought some extra food and play pots and pans, so it having a bunch of extra pieces isn't important. We'd really like to spend under $100, but we can go up if needed. My husband loves putting them together and doesn't care how many pieces it comes in. Can anyone please suggest a good one or tell me one that isn't worth the money.

So What Happened?

After going to several stores and looking at more reviews online, we decided on the Step 2 Market Fresh Kitchen and Bakery. We got it at Sam's for about $125 so that worked really well for our budget and it's big enough for several kids and seems sturdy. Hubby and I are looking forward to putting it together, too, even knowing it will take some time.

Pottery Barn Kids was having a sale on play kitchens this week. They seem to have a wide variety, but not sure if the sale fits in your price range. It's worth a look! They've got some really cute stuff!

Hi there,

Walamrt.com has a few, but this is the one we have for our daughter. She got it for her 1st bday. She loves it! http://www.walmart.com/Step2-Lifestyle-Custom-Kitchen/ip/... It's not very expensive, it even came down in price.

Good luck!

My boys (4 and 2) have the Step 2 PartyTime Kitchen and they love it. It is listed on the Step2 website http://www.step2.com/product.cfm?product_id=1397 for $150 but I don't think my mom paid that much when she got it for them. My boys play with this kitchen together without any problem and it isn't "girly" looking. It is also very sturdy.

We have the Melissa and Doug one which is wonderful. But it's expensive. It's big, sturdy, with lots of storage space for the pans and food. My two kids play with it daily. it's blue, not pink, and holds up great. It is hard to put together so your husband should be thrilled. We got ours used but new it can run close to $200. for us it is very worth it.

We have the Step 2 Lifestyle Kitchen and it is awesome! Very sturdy, easy to put together and my daughter loves it. We got it for her last Christmas and she has played with it almost daily since.

Have you considered Fisher-Price Elmo's Restaurant Play Kitchen? It was two sides, and so up to 4 kids can play at one time. I just saw it on ebay for around $60.

I just wanted to say thank you for posting this question. I too have been looking for a play kitchen (well more like thinking about not actually looking) for my 3 year old daughter. I beleive that I seen the Step 2 Lifestyle Party Kitchen that C.P. mentioned over at my local Sam's Club. I don't know if you have a Sam's Club nearby or if you're a member but thought I would mention it in case you decide to go with her suggestion.

Update: It was actually the Step 2 Lifestyle Fresh Market & Bakery Kitchen. I got it for my DD and she LOVES it!
