Looking for Good Mans Watch

Out 10th Anniversary is coming up soon and I want to give my husband a nice watch. What brand should I be looking at? I'm willing to pay a little extra (not thousands) to buy a quality watch that he can wear for special events and nights out with me. Should I go to a department store, jewelry store or watch store? Any ideas are helpful.
Thank you.

Hi M.,
I buy most of my watches at Macys or Fortunoff. They have good quality and good brands and a big variety. When I got married I bought my husband a Coach Watch for about $400. I was told that it was made by Movado. It's really nice but not as expensive as an actual Movado.

Happy Anniversary. Good luck!

Hi M.,
Unfortunatly, my husband is a watch fanatic. He thinks its his jewelry. We have found the best deals at Costco for less than $200. He has gotten some really nice brands such as Invicta for around $90. There are some nice Casio styles out there now as well. Hope this helps and wish you luck!

HI M.,

My husband is also a watch fanatic. It is his jewerly as someone else mentioned. He has several expensive ones as well as reasonable ones. But in reading the replies I thought I would add and idea I didn't see anyone else mention. Tommy Bahama has watches. My husband owns two. So you might check out a store near you. The last one I just bought him a month ago for a present has an orange band and
orange accents on the face. He wanted it, I didn't really pick it out. It's a large square masculine watch. Whenever he wears it with his shirts that have any bit of orange in them he gets so many complaments it's surprising. And it was reasonably priced. Good luck.

I agree with another post, it depends on what your husband likes. Some men prefer a leather band, some like the link look, etc.. Some like fancy faces, some prefer a simple face. Diamonds or no diamonds? Digital or not? Other time zones, or not? You get the point. I bought my dad a really nice watch from the Eddie Bauer store a few years ago and he adores it. He was really impressed with it (he loved the leather band - he's old school! lol) and he wears it all the time. The best part is, I got it on clearance AND I had an in-store coupon for it. He'll never know! lol Good luck :)

I don't know where you live but this store called Time Keeper in Woodland Hills is great. It's on Ventura by Shoup on the North side of the street in a shopping center on the corner there is a 7 Eleven right next door so look for that. This store is really good and they have everything. Don't go to a department store. We take all of our watches to buy and fix there. My husband bought my watch there for my bday present.

That's a hard question... every man is different in his taste. Forget the brand, but go with what you know your hubby will wear! I have found some GORGEOUS ones at JCPenney believe it or not... check their clearance section first! I like Kenneth Cole, but I don't think JCP carries them. Could be wrong though! :)

I bought my husband a Citizens Eco-Drive. It was about $300. The cool thing about it is that its solar charged so you don't have to replace the battery. He really liked it. Good luck and Happy Anniversary!

Hey M.:

Depends on where you live. I know of a very reasonable watch guy in South Pasadena Ca. Anyway, Tag, Swiss Army, Seiko, ESQ, Omega's are all very good and Nice Mens watches. My husband has one of each and I am not sure he knows which one he loves best.

It also depends on how much you really want to spend, but don't go to a department store or a jewelry store if you can help it. Check out a watch repair or watch store instead.

Good luck and happy anniversary.

My husband and I both like Fossil watches. Lots of different styles, colors, etc., not too expensive, and they last forever! Happy shopping. :)

I would check out the selection of watches at Costco and at Costco.com. Plus, their return policy is very liberal. Happy Anniversary.

Go to www.blingdaily.com. They have high end watches and always offer a huge discount. Only problem is they only offer one watch a day, so you may have to visit the site everyday til the one you want shows up.

http://www.shnoop.com/ also has great deals... but it's a "deal a day" type site also. Right now, there's an Accutron watch that normally goes for $595, on sale for $99. My husband bought me an Invicta watch from there, and it was normally $999 for $80. Huge savings.

Hope this helps!

I would definately go for the "Omega Seamaster". There are many different styles and looks, so check them all out. It is a manly mans watch and without going to a Rolex an amazing watch. I think I have seen it at Costco once or twice. I got my husband one and didn't even know my brother happened to have the same one. People comment on it all the time, everyone has a Tag. I would not go retail. Hunt online for the best deal.
My husband has had his for 8 years and he has only changed the battery one time, it has been snorkeling, swimming and crazy abused and is still in great shape!
Here is a good sale on a basic looking one:

Here is the midsize James Bond one (the most famous one)

This site makes them easy to see:

Tag makes a nice man's watch in different styles. Here is a link I googled with a few examples ~ completely unfamiliar with the website so no reference there.

I think the black face is a little more low key, but they carry many different styles.

Have fun shopping!
