Looking for Good Dress up Clothes for a 3 Year Old

I'm thinking about purchasing dress up clothes for my 3 year old daughter for Christmas but I am having a hard time deciding what/where to buy. Do I buy the inexpensive dress up trunk from Toys R Us that got a bad review or do I spend $25 per outfit? Any ideas on either of these or perhaps you know of a great place to buy dress up clothes?

What can I do next?

Don't waste your money! I get dress up clothes at 2nd hand stores and garage sales. They don't have to be new and perfect, they'll get played to death anyway!
Especially watch for cheer and theater group fundraising sales, they have lots of old outfits and accessories that are perfect for dress up. Have fun!

I have been working on this one too, lately. I have been picking up things for my daughters at garage sales and thrift stores. After Halloween is a great time too, when costumes are on clearance.

Mardi Gras beads make great necklaces because they are cheap and each bead is fixed to the strand so that, when they break, the rest of the beads don't pour off onto the floor (no messes or choking hazards).

I have 2 or 3 different Disney dresses at $10 a piece that are in great shape you can purchase. I am in the Murphy area. They are different sizes so she can grow into them. One is a yellow Belle dress she would fit in now and then a blue Cinderella and a pink sleeping beauty.

Check Big Lots. I found several things for my daughter there.

I happened to see a lot of options at Tuesday Morning today, $4.99 - $12.99 per outfit. Everything from tutus to princess dresses to fairy outfit complete with wings. Dollar Tree also has cheap extras to go along with: crowns, shoes, etc.

I fell into the "cute trunk" trap last year. The "trunk" is little more than a cardboard box that lasted about a month before falling apart. However, the outfits were cute, so we just ditched the cardboard trunk and made a real "dress up box" - there are some really cute but inexpensive wood-framed boxes at ikea that we added hinges to the lid. You definitely get more dresses for the money that way, and then maybe you just buy one "extra fancy" dress - maybe the one of her favorite princess.

have you considered good will or a thrift store? I know they aren't new, but they have some adoreable party dresses.
