Looking for Fun Activities for a 2 Year Old

Hi D. - to echo the other suggestions, Detroit Zoo, Henry Ford/Greenfield Village, your nearest metropark ($4 or $20 annual), Belle Isle nature park (free)and your local park/playarea. If you don't already have memberships I would strongly suggest you get them for the zoo and Henry Ford then you can stop by anytime you want to over the next 12 months even if it's only for an hour.

The Grand Rapids Children's Museum is so fun, and you can spend as much time there as you want, as there is so much to do. And they have a new farm exhibit, and most days a special program as well. On Tuesday's I think they have toddler activities all morning. Have fun!

This isn't for outdoor so much but it is a fabulous site for indoor activities! I am addicted to it!

Free - Madison Heights Nature Center - did it this spring with a group of moms and small children - fun and very relaxing. Take a little picnic.

Check out the Warren Fountain at 12mile & Van Dyke. My daughter LOVES going there---and it's free! Easy parking, nice locker & bathroom area, if needed. It's open daily starting at 10am until some time in the evening, maybe 8pm? Worth checking out. Have fun!

Hi D., I am not sure what is local for you, but pretty much any time that you spend with her, will be a treat for her, no matter where you are. If you have a river, etc, you can go for a walk and sit and play with the ducks. Go to a playground (a lot of schools in my area have wooden play structures that are new and exciting for little ones. Go for a walk and make it a scavenger hunt and make a collage with clear contact paper or by gluing it onto a poster board. There are lots of "fun" places that you can go, but I would be what she wants most is to have you involved so it really matter what you are doing. Have fun, and keep the pressure off.

the zoo, the science museum, the natural history museum, the beach, the pool, drawing, looking at clouds, the playground, blowing bubbles, dancing, reading books, singing, art projects, play hopscotch, chalk art, duck duck goose, ring around the rosy, free movies at lansing mall cinema, go to the mall and window shop, play cards, get an ice cream cone, go for a bike ride, take a walk, go to library, go to book store, go to toy store, put make-up on each other, do each others nails, go to the next town over and explore, go to the pet store, go to the dollar store, plant something, go out to eat, let her "make" dinner, make a cake, watch a movie together, make a present for somebody, go on a picnic, take a nap together, cuddle, make a fruit salad together, pick strawberries or something else, have a tea party, play dress up, have fun!

Greenfield Village is great. They have a train that you can ride and a carousel. You could always go to Metro Beach or Stoney Creek for water fun. When I lived on the east side and my daughter was a tot, we'd head to Metro Beach regularly where they had the play areas for tots and she loved the water. The Zoo is another fun place for tots especially the playground area. Dodge Park is nice too--pack a lunch and hit the swings. Great Lakes Crossing was another fun place--my daughter loved the Rainforest Cafe there.
