Looking for Feedback on Infertility Dr. in New York City

I have been trying to concieve for virtually two years and have been monitored by a Dr. with RMA of NY for the past 7 months. Unfortunately I am not a candidate for IVF due to an elevated FSH. I've had 5 IUI's since November '07. I'm seeking any feedback from those that have used Dr. Sami David. Our initial meeting with Dr. David was positive. We just want to make sure moving from a practice that seems to have all the bells and whistles to a one man show is the right choice for us now.

What can I do next?

Hi, I used Dr. David for a little while when trying to conceive. He had successfully treated a friend's infertility, which is how we found him. I liked him, and felt he was more willing to explore options other than IVF, which other doctors were pushing really hard (in my opinion, without adequately diagnosing the reason for our infertility first). He was very focused on a bacterial infection we had (ureaplasmosis) as being the reason--he may test you for that. However, I was a little disconcerted when after the first month he changed the plan we had initially agreed upon (to try Clomid for a few months) to move to injectables. I wasn't ready for injectables (and in fact, am still not) and I think that is when I decided to pursue adoption (we are now the proud and happy adoptive parents of a wonderful baby boy). But that was all more our decision than anything Dr. David did or didn't do. Good luck!

hey M. -
i know it is a little off the subject of what you are looking for but i know that alot of people have had great success getting pregnant with an (herbal) acupuncturist - you might want to pair it with your other efforts!
all the best!

Hi - I used Dr. Sami David in 1998 and 2000 to have both my kids (now 7 and 10). After having had recurrent pregnancy loss, he was a lifesaver! I had been to many, many reproductive endocrinologists and felt like I was just another wannabe mom. Someone at RMA even referred to me as a "habitual aborter" which felt awful. But when we went to Dr. David, I felt so different! He was caring and responsive. His staff was lovely and very professional! It was like going to a different land -- I can't recommend him highly enough. He knew his stuff and recommended treatments that others didn't and they worked! I really liked his calm and optimistic manner. Good luck!

I've read good things about Dr. David--have you read Inconceibable and/or Fertility Wisdom? Highly recommend--good luck!

Don't waste your time or your money. My friend went to Dr. Davis for over 3 years with the hopes of conceiving(no luck), she's now a patient at RMA. Both of my kids were concieved with the help of RMA. However, I recommend that you go straight to Cornell. Dr. Pak Chung. They have the most success rates for women over 40. My girlfriend concieved through Cornell at the age of 42 and had the baby at 43.

Good luck.
