the online only banks do best in this regard. try ingdirect and hsbc. their savings account rates are comparable to CDs, in my experience.

Usually ING has great rates, some of the best, I have CD accounts with them, but with the economy the way it is, no one has great rates right now! I have looked around myself! Let me know if you find a good rate!

Hi
My name is J. and I am a licensed in securities. I can share with you some very safe investment options that would give you a much better rate of return than going through the banks. The trouble with CD's is that they are not even keeping up with inflation and in the long run, you end up losing money. I would be happy to share more information with you if you are intersted. You can reach me at ###-###-#### - of course there is no obligation or charge. I am also listed on the mamasource business listing and member perks.

Look into a local community credit union. They are FDIC insured but instead of being out to make a profit they are out to make you money since every member has a stake instead of lining some investment bankers pockets. Most of the time the cd rates are higher than a regular bank too and customer service is always great becasue without members the credit union does not exist. There are alot of community credit unions that you olny have to live in the area or work there to be a memeber.

If you are in the northern suburbs I would look into State Bank of the Lakes. They are small (yes, FDIC) and it is so nice to walk into your bank and have them not only recognize you but know your needs. If you want to meet my banker let me know I can introduce you so you can ask her questions before you open the acct.
