Anyone know of any farms, gardens or other type sites where you can go and pick your own food in the Chicago-land area? Or a day trip from the city?

The Ongoing Activities section on www.kidwinks.com has links along the left for apple orchards, pumpkin farms and u-pick farms. The nice thing about kidwinks is that you can read reviews from other parents, and if you're a member (which is free) you can sort any search results to see what's closest to you. It's especially helpful for things like these u-pick farms, which are often located in towns that many people are not familiar with. Here's the direct link to the u-pick results: http://www.kidwinks.com/FamilyFun/OutdoorKidsActivities/U...

Hope this helps,

J.

Thompsons Strawberry Farm outside of Kenosha Wi (about 10 miles north of the Illinois Border), has strawberries and raspberries. They also do pumpkins in the fall.

I have wondered the same thing.......I hope there is something out there. My family is in Michigan and there are many opportunities around the Ann Arbor area.
Good luck!

I know in the late summer/fall there is a place in Malta called Jonamac Orchard for apples and pumpkins. www.jonamacorchard.com but I don't know of any things like berries or summer crops.
