And since they make food storage products and cooking products as well I really believe they are the best in the world to know if they are safe.

You can view and order online at the above site and have them shipped directly to you. There is still time to get them by Christmas. They have said we can place orders until Dec. 12 for Christmas delivery. I recommend by December 10.

I'm responding about the V-Tech toys and Leapstar. My daughter has a Leapstar and doesn't care too much for it. She is 21 months old. I think a 3 yr. old may be more interested in it, especially if he loves to read.

I have a vsmile for my son and love it. My step daughter had a leapfrog reading system and she loved it! I actually just packed it up and put it aside with the cartridges for my son for when he is a little older!

Hi - We LOVE LOVE LOVE the handheld Leapster. We have the My first leap pad, and other ones which were not really hits, but the Leapster is great. We got it for my oldest at age 3 and she could do it with some help, and by age 4 she could do it herself. Its awesome for the car and plane. My second daughter is almost 3 and plays with it as well. There are great games - the nemo and thomas games are great - they are pre -k - k. I really recommend it (Im a 2cd grade teacher!) Good luck! J.

We gave our son Alex a leapfrog leapster at the age of 3 - he still picks it up and uses it now at age 7! He has had lots of fun with it as he still gets the "in" products such as nemo, scooby doo etc. and gets reading and phoneme help. The range of Vetech and leapfrog products have probably extended massively since we purchased our leapfrog but i can't recommend it highly enough!

my 5 year old recieved the leap frog and the my first leapfrog leap frog on her 3rd birthday. the leap frog is still in the package in the closet. I loved this toy and thought it was cool, but she wouldnt play with it alone, still doesnt, and when i try to show her how to do it shes like whatever...and goes to color or play barbies. Ive bought all kinds of different books for it, doesnt matter! Im pretty bummed, Im thinking about opening the other one and see if it grabs her attention any better. She just has a hard time following direction from a computer voice i think, a friend of mine has said the same about hers. But, the vtech video game system thing I have not tried, but another friend of mine has it and her kids love it. At 3 he will still need you there to help point out things etc. but he will probably enjoy this more. Its more hands on and probably keeps their attention better. Buying presents for my kids is my favorite thing! I homeschool and am always looking for educational toys. (I have 6 and 3 year old sons and a baby daughter) My favorite store is Lakeshore Learning. They have the best educational toys I've seen anywhere! Some great things for a 3 year old are sorting sets, alphabet dry erase boards, board games featuring colors, letters and numbers, imaginary play like play food and dress up clothes, puzzles, memory matching games,musical instrument sets, science theme boxes, rhyming activities, ect. I also always get my boys a big box of art supplies on every birthday or Christmas. A great resource for that is Discount School Supplies. They have great prices especially if you grab one of their free shipping deals. As you can see I love things without batteries.(If only because I never remember to replace them!)My 6 year old does have a leapfrog and I think they do have their place but I feel the things they can learn from them are limited. You may think your son will think "learning toys" are boring but you'd be surprised if you start them young enough they will not distinquish between learning and play. They will become one. Last year we bought our son one of those video gaming systems (don't remember which one)that connect to the TV and came with Dora and Cars phonics games. He seemed to like the idea of it, but he couln't manage the joystick well at age 3.5. (Dexterity isn't his strong suit, but even I found the control to be a little sensitive!) I think this year I might get him the leap frog reading system. I have bought products from Discovery Toys before, which he has liked. He also enjoys interactive books that require him to count, sort, say the picture within the sentence, search for clues, trace, open the flap, etc. He has started writing, so he loves the dry erase books that he can write letters and numbers in. My son will start kindergarten next year, so I too am looking for christmas gifts of the more eductional variety-- preferably with no lead paint!!

Last year I got my four year old daughter a v smile, the game "smartridges" come in different age levels, so the games are age appropriate for what the child is capable of doing. She loves it and it keeps her entertained in the car and in restaurants. Plus it nice to know that it helps her to learn letters, numbers and etc.

My kids have the Vsmile and the Fisher Price lap top which they enjoy. The is a store called Lakeshore in Newton that specializes in educational toys.

My 2 and 3 year old girls love the LeapFrog Leap Pad. You can buy different stories that come with a cartridge. On each page, they can press anything and it'll name things, say rhymes, read the story, make noises... very cute and endless fun with the different story book options. Also, I have a good friend who sells "Discovery Toys." I don't know a lot about them, but they are supposed to be educational and fun and good quality (durable). V-Smile is very good. We bought the unit you hook up to the tv when our son was 4 (now7) and it was great for him. We then moved onto the handheld leapster for xmas when he was 6. We are now buying the handheld vsmile for our daughter (41/2) for xmas and she will be able to use all the games that we bought for the last 3 years. I would suggest the one that hooks up to the tv unless you do alot of traveling which we do. But you know books and puzzles are also great at this age and very affordable. Not sure if your son likes crafts also, but a good present I give also is a rubbermade container (any size you choose) and fill it will any and all crafts stuff, crayons, colored pencils, scissors, stickers, play-doh. All of this stuff is very affordable also at the dollar store. Hope this helps
