Looking for Decent Children's Sheets

We are getting ready to redo my son's bedroom to turn it into a big boy's room instead of a nursery. He has picked out a space theme for his room that we saw at Target. However, the reviews say that the sheet sets are very stiff & scratchy. I have found this with many of the kids sheet sets. Can anyone suggest someplace that I can find nice sheets for kids? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I love Jumping Beans (sold at Kohls). My girls have them... they feel like t-shirts and they have plain or prints to choose from.

How about Pottery Barn Kids? I cn't remember how the prices run but I know they have a pretty good selection online and their sheets are soft.

Hi C.,

I have three sets of sheets for my daughter's bed. I bought them all from Pottery Barn Kids. The quality is good; they wash well and are soft (especially the flannel set). I've had them all for about 2.5 years. I think PBK sells a Star Wars theme set . . .

Also, my own sheets are from The Company Store. They are wonderful. We have lots of blankets and linens from them. They have a kid's division, The Company Store Kids, and they may have what you want too. I imagine the quality is consistent.

Good luck!

PS
I bought all of the Pottery Barn Kids sheets on sale. I think I only paid full price for the quilt.

Buy the sheets and soak them in Downy or Snuggle overnight. Then rinse and dry them...Then every time you wash them just make sure you put a little extra softner in them. Works great and makes them soft.

Try Home Goods, Marshall's, TJ Maxx for deeply discounted sheet sets and good quality thread count, although you won't necessarily find the "theme" you want or all the pieces. I also am a huge online shopper and google everything I want before I do any searching at regular retail. Thread count is what will make the sheets super-soft and comfy for him, so look for all cotton, 250 thread count and above. Good luck!

I bought my daughter sheets at Target when we did her big girl room. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how they feel. They were from the shabby chic line of linens.

Belk's is having a huge doorbuster sale today and tomorrow (Jan 1 & 2). Sheet sets for $30 for all sizes. I have never bought "kid" sheets for my kids' beds as they are usually a rough cotton/polyester blend and very uncomfortable. I only buy 100% cotton.. the higher the thread-count the better. Go for a solid color, or something with stripes or polka dots can be fun, too, if they like that. Make the room kid friendly with other decor and accessories.

TJ Maxx is an excellent place to look for sheets. Be sure to check out Bed Bath & Beyond also- (20% off coupons are good on EVERYTHING there).. they have a whole kids section and the sheets are very nice and reasonably priced. If you have a Macy's near you, they have good deals sometimes, too.

You can mailorder some very nice kids sheets from The Company Store or Land's End that have themes on them (look online and you will see)... but a solid set of Navy blue sheets from TJ Maxx would probably work equally well for a lot less money.

Just remember... only 100% cotton and check the thread-count (I would suggest 300 or higher for a kid).
P.S. I don't care for the Jersey knit sheets either... and they are a bit difficult to put on the bed too.. as they do stretch and "grab".

Look for thread count. Most set like the one you are looking at will run between 200-250 thread count. I prefer 400-450, but 300-350 isn't bad either. Try TJMaxx. They always have a large selection of very nice sheets. Also you might want to consider department stores. Have you thought about jersey knit sheets? I hate them, as I feel they stretch out like crazy, but lots of people LOVE them. Good luck!

Hi, we have a bedding set from olivekids.com (Bed Bath and Beyond sells them too and you can use the 20% coupons - you take your coupons in and they order them from their own website for you so that you can use the coupons). Olive kids definitely had a cute space theme set a few years ago when I ordered my son's "Heroes" set...they don't seem to change styles much so I would check out their site, they probably still have it. The quality has been great for him. The thread count was higher than most kids' sheets I found but still not as high as what I buy for my room...but just fine for my 4 year old!

The Company Store has a kids' section (online) and they have very cute bedding themes as well...we get our grown up sheets from there and have been happy with them.
