I am looking for an orthodontist that actually has his or her patient as their first concern, not money. I have been asking many of my mommy friends, and they either feel they are getting ripped off or the don't like the Doc's bedside manner. I have 2 girls who need to start getting looked at, and I don't know where to turn. I have no trouble paying reasonable rates to a nice ortho, so please send me some referrals. Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

The orthodontist that my 5 children have been/or are currently being treated by is Michael McGrady. He is located on Dundee Rd. What I really like about him is that he is conservative. I feel he is not is a hurry to put appliances in. He will wait to see how the teeth come in. I really feel comfortable with his treatments. His phone number is ###-###-####
Good Luck!

I have been happy with our pediatric dentist, but I haven't needed their orthodontics services. I think they would be worth considering at least. Perhaps the staff could give you an idea about cost over the phone.

This would be a little bit of a drive for you, but I LOVE our orthodontist, and highly recommend him and his whole office staff. His name is Dr. Bard, and he's located in Gurnee, near Washington and Rt. 21. He has treated 2 of my 3 kids, and truly works in our interest. For example: I felt that my son (15) probably needed braces a few years back, but Dr. Bard encouraged us to wait it out- based on his experience and observations, he thought his teeth would align themselves in time- and he was right! He could easily have "taken" us for several thousand $. My other two kids have had braces, and he makes each visit so fun, with office contests and prizes, silly costume days for office staff, and an annual ice skating party for all his patients. I did some price comparisons before we started, and his prices were within a few dollars of everyone elses, in fact just a few dollars less. But as I said, the biggest benefit to me is that we can truly trust him as being a man of integrity and skill. His office number is ###-###-####.

Dr. Kemp in Arlington Hts., on Arlington Hts. Rd and Thomas. He and his staff are wonderful. I have 2 children with braces. My daughter had extensive work and although she should have had them off las Jan. she still has them on to finish correction. It's his dime! My daushter got hers on late because our dentis did not tell us until she was 14 that her 12 yr. molar never came in and that tooth was then pulled up with the braces! It was amazing. My son is not good with any pain and they are wonderful with him. I have many friends who have used him also and loved him. He does not rush into anything. When I took my son he said to come back in about 6 months when his 12 yr molars come in, because he was early in getting them. He was 11 when he got them and all molars were in by 6 months! Good Luck!
