Looking for an Upholstered Glider for Nursery

I have been shopping for an upholstered glider and can't find what i want. I've looked at Lone Star Baby in dallas and there are nice ones there but the price is not so nice....some are about $1000 with most at least $500 and that's JUST for the glider and not even including the ottoman which is always another bucket of money too. I want an upholstered one that i can move to a livingroom space later and not have that "glider" look that the wood frame showing will give. I think the frame ones are comfy too but even those are darned expensive not to meniton not wanting that style in my livingroom later.

any advice on where to shop? i see some online but i won't buy unless i can sit in it and try it out. Lone star said getting the fabric upholstered takes at least either 3-6 or 6-8 weeks so i guess i'd better get busy or i won't have anything to sit my bottom in when i bring home baby!!! lol

thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

I hear ya! We got a Dutailer:

And it's 700 but with free shipping and no tax, this was the best I came up with. I have no complaints and can EASILY use this in a room later.

We got ours at Burlington Coat Factory Baby Depot

I went through the same issues when I was looking. We ended up with a regular glider though. I looked at Target online, jcpenney online, try sears, burlington coat factory is good too.

Babies R Us has a large selection, and most are reasonable priced. I got mine 16 years ago at Burlington Coat Factory and it still looks like new. I didn't get the stool that matches, and have always wished I did, so you might consider that as well.

I actually have one if you want to buy it. I can send you a picture. It's light brown soft fabric and a sort of dard wood on the bottom. Let me know if you are interested. My little girl just turned 2 and we have no use for it anymore. :-)

Have you considered looking through craigslist.org or a baby resale like Once Upon a Child, Kid to Kid or similar? If you have some brand names, you could call around and ask the stores to save you the windsheild time. I think Pottery Barn kids sells one in the style you mentioned, so that's one name you could ask for. It would be a ton cheaper to buy one second hand. If you hate the fabric, it might be cheaper to just buy a fabric you like and have it reupholstered or have a custom slip cover made to match your decor.

Try Craigslist. That's where I found mine.
