I am looking for trip ideas for a group of 2nd grade girls. We will be discussing outer space and rockets. I am looking for a trip in the south or western suburbs, not too far from Plainfield. Any ideas?

Not sure if it is too far for you but sounds like they would really enjoy the Cernan Space Center at Triton College. You should be able to check it out at their website.

Hi C.,
There is a great little museum in Bourbonnais...it is beautiful! It's a little small, but worth the trip.

All the Best!

It's not in Plainfield, but the planetarium is awesome. I took my 2nd grade class there last year and they had a blast!

Check out SciTech in Aurora. They have 30-minute programs for field trip groups, and astronomy is one of the topics. (not sure if they do those on weekends, but it's a cool museum for that age anyway.)

Hi C.,

Good for you getting them focused on science and space! Cernan Space Center should do you fine!
