Looking for an Ortho Dr for Knees & Back
Im looking for an Ortho doctor, preferably close to Carrollton but am willing to drive a bit for a great doctor. I went from 465 lbs to current 315 and while Im able to walk some, Ive still need support for walking and have never before checked into it. Looking for recommendations of an experienced doctor.
So What Happened?™
Thank you everybody so much - I will be running these doctors names by my insurance company to see who might be within my plan and recommendations are so important when picking amoung the many out there.

My family members have had very positive experiences at Metrocrest Orthopedics & I believe they are in Carrollton on Josey Lane. They have multiple doc's on staff that specialize in different parts of the body. I highly recommend them.

J.-I'm a Physical Therapist at Baylor Downtown and would highly recommend several doctors. Dr. Drew Dossett is an amazing back dr. (he's also the Dr. for the Dallas Cowboys). He's close to Presby off of Walnut Hill. My mom also went to him for her back. Dr. Pelosa at Presby is great (back)! Dr. Shubert at Baylor for knees... L. R.

I second Plano Orthopedic. We have seen several of the Dr.'s there. They are well qualified, well respected and have taken care of us.
Our visits have been due to sports injuries (running, golfing, tennis etc) on ankle, shoulder, knee and foot. We like the approach of not rushing in to surgery. If you are wanting surgery, you might not like them. We believe in the physical therapy sessions and working very hard to overcome the injury without surgery. We have ended up stronger after the physical therapy sessions.
That said, if I ever had no choice, Plano Ortho would be the only place I would trust for my sports related injury.

Check out Plano Orthopedic Sports Medicine at http://www.posmc.com/. They don't just treat athletes. I'm a non-athletic mom and I damaged my rotator cuff(s) picking up kids and they were very helpful. However, there may be practices that specialize in weight-loss related issues, so definitely check around. Good luck! And congratulations on getting the weight off.

You are in luck! You have a wonderful orthopedic surgeon in Carollton who specializes in knee problems, Dr. Glenn Wheeless. His office is located at the corner of Josey and Parker in the Metrocrest Orthopedics facility. I had ACL and meniscus surgery last June with Dr. Wheeless, and he was great.

Hi J.. I have a reccomendation of an excellent Ortho for you. My daughter and I both just had knee surgery with him and he is excellent. They have 2 locations, one in Southlake and one in Las Colinas, which would be very close for you. I live in Lewisville and it only takes me about 10 min. to get there with no traffic going up the tollway. His name is Dr. Bing Tsay and his number is ###-###-####. Hope this helps.

Metrocrest Orthopedic and Sports Medicine has a wonderful team of doctors. I saw Dr. Craig Goodhart, but all of them are great at what they do. Their web site is www.metrocrest.com and they are on north Josey Lane just before FM544.
Good luck and congratulations on your weight reduction. Keep up the good work on that!
