Looking for an Airfare Expert
Does anyone know if airfares traditionally increase or decrease after Labor Day? I need to go to a "destination" wedding in Mexico with two little ones in tow and not sure if I should buy tix now or wait it out. Thanks!

Hi L.,
Join a couple of travel website's. They will give you updates & send you an email everytime an airline drops a price, or they have a special fare. To Mexico, they will have ALL kinds of specials!!

You can put in a fare watch for the route between your local airport and this place in Mexico and they'll notify you when the fare is considered a good one.

I have found that the sooner you buy the better. The closer you get to your travel date the higher the tickets will be. Also look on line for the tickets. When you decide which flights you want call the airlines directly. There are fees you will save.

I saved $1000 by booking our trip to Mexico after midnight. I do not know why, but packages are cheaper on Travelocity and Orbitz after midnight. Plus Orbitz has a deal where if someone books the same trip after you for less money, you get the difference back.
Good luck and have fun. Mexico is beautiful and I cant wait to go back. :)

Try Priceline.com there is another one that you can negotiate the fair, but if they accept your price you must be prepared to purchase the tickets.

It's always a gamble. I typically buy tickets 3-4 months in advance for the best fares. Anything 6 months or beyond tends to be more expensive. However, if you've got specific times and days to travel, don't wait too long. You don't want to get stuck on a flight with multiple stops just to get the cheapest fare. I've found that when I've held out too long to save a few bucks, I might have gotten a cheaper flight, but the travel time (redeye, for example) was not worth it with a little one. Check multiple online sites, ask some travel agents, and you should be OK. Good luck!
