Looking for a Weight Loss Doctor
I'm looking for a weight loss Doctor...one who will possibly perscribe the weight loss aid 'Phentermine'...I took it several years ago to help with the loss of some baby weight, then it was the popular combination 'Phen-Fen' plan...but my doctor has retired. I know they don't prescribe the 'Phen-Fen' anymore, but Phentermine is still prescribed for weight loss. Anyone have a good doctor in the Plano area? Thanks!

There is a clinic at Belt Line and Preston call Neighborhood Medical Center or something similar and they prescribe Adipex (or phentermine is the generic. They accept all kinds of insurance and require a blood test (to check your thyroid) and you have to lose at least 5 lbs. every month to receive your next month script. Here is the link for their website:

They accept walk-ins or appointments and are open weekends as well. Good luck

Gosh! I took Phentermine back...well, I think it was 1996 but not for weight loss. My doctor prescribed it because a side effect of it was it helped with fibromyalgia patients. She had been to a conference where this was discussed and noted it really helped (I've had fibro for a really long time) so, she wanted to experiment on me to see if it would help. It did! for me the side effect was I also had weight loss. The drug company figured they would make way more money prescribing and advertising it for weight loss then they could as a drug to help fibromyalgia patients. After 6 months she took me off and that was about the time issues came up with people taking Phen-Fen and having heart issues. Good Luck! I had no problems taking that product at all, and I sure did enjoy having less pain in the morning and as a bonus, losing weight.

Hi, my mother has worked at IHP (Institute of Health Promotion) for over 10 years as the office manager and has seen a great deal of weight loss over the years. http://www.ihpweightloss.com/index.htm They work with you to develop a program tailored just for you and your lifestyle. I believe they prescribe phentermine and other FDA approved medications (I think each has it's own side-effects so it depends on you and your health) but first they determine your body mass index and overall health and continue to monitor your health on-going. I have not personally been through their program so I am can't speak from my own experience but speak of what I have learned through my mom's experiences over the years. She has been on a number of different medications and maintained her weight. She currently isn't on anything but is maintaining through the knowledge she has learned through their program. She has worked with Peggy Ostrander for all 10 years and remains impressed with her skill and knowledge. Hope this is helpful!

Several members of my family went to IHP (Institute of Health Promotion) in East Plano. The address is 617 E. 16th St. The doctor at the time was Dr. Lane. My brother, my sister-in-law, my son, my daughter, and myself all had excellent results. Phentermine was not prescribed for each of us but I know it was for the majority of us. I took Phen and Xenical together and lost almost 40 pounds in less than 6 months. It was great. The others in my family had even better results. I know IHP is still there because my brother was in there recently refilling one of his meds.
Good luck!

Good luck with that. I can't find anyone who will prescribe diet pills anymore. They carry too much liability. My doctor was the king of prescribing diet pills at one time, but no more. Type in Phentermine in google. I believe you can still get it from an online pharmacy. I think I got some from Canada years ago. You fill out a physician questionnaire online (like a doctor consultation) then you can buy them. That's how they can call it a prescription. But if you are taking other medications or have other health problems, they will deny you.....so you have to decide what you write and don't write on the questionnaire. Then when it comes in you'll have to sign for it at the post office. If you are concerned with any other medications you take and the contraindications of taking the Phentermine with it, call a Pharmacist. Your insurance won't cover it anyway, so the cost will seem high.
