Looking for a Traditional Church

Hi -

I've seen this asked before, but I can't find it in the lists so please forgive the re-asking of this question. We are fairly new to the Jenison/Hudsonville area and are looking for a traditional church. One that that uses traditional hymns and is a Bible/non-denominational/baptist type church. I've been having a hard time finding one in the area that isn't reformed or uses bands. I know that some people really enjoy going to churches like that - it's just not how I was brought up and what I enjoy in a service.

Anyone have any suggestions of churches you attend? Do they have a website that I could check out prior to visiting? A bit out of the area is OK - I'm not opposed to driving a bit (less than 30 min preferably).

Thanks in advance -
J.

Spurgeon Heritage Church

We are a Baptist church. The church name comes from C.H. Spurgeon who some say was the last great Baptist preacher before the downfall of the Baptist denomination. Many/most Baptist churches today do not believe anything like the original Baptist churches that came out of Europe. We are very traditional. We'd love to have you for a visit sometime. May God guide your search. Above all, seek the truth, even when it hurts! :)

Hey check out Grace Community Church in Hudsonville on New Holland st.
It's a community church, so not reformed or baptist by name or anything, but Grace is very sound doctrinally, we sing traditional songs but not out of a hymnal, we use a screen. There is one service it starts at 9:30, this Sunday would be a great day to check it out since it's our Christmas service. The people are very nice, it's just a great community of people that attend Grace.

Let me know if you need more info.

My husband and I had the same issue and spent about 3 years looking for a church. We finally settled at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids. They sing right out a Hymnal, have a choir and no band music (unless it's a Sunday where the Winds are playing - and that is only special music). The church is actually right downtown on Jefferson one block south of Fulton. They do have a website, but I don't remember what it is off the top of my head.

If you are hooked on a Baptist church, my Grandparents go to one in Culterville called Heritage Baptist Church. I don't know what their music is like, although I can't believe that my Grandparents would appreciate the bands. The church is right off M-6 at the Kalamazoo Ave. exit, head south to 60th and it would be on the Left side of the road (the drive may be off 60th I'm not sure, if so turn left on 60th and then it's on the left).
