Looking for a Reputable Home Warranty Company
Does anyone know of a good Home Warranty company? We got one when we bought our house (forget which company), but they denied a claim we made, so we did not renew. We are looking to add one, and I have been looking online, but it seems like the reviews are TERRIBLE for all the companies out there.
Can anyone recommend one? Thanks so much!

So What Happened?™
We went with American Home Shield, since that pretty much got all the votes. We just recently signed up, so we haven't made any claims. I realize you have to fight with these people some times, and we are prepared for that. I like having the piece of mind that things should be covered if they break though. Thanks to all of you who gave recommendations.

We also have American Home Shield... knock on wood - but no problems here, and we've had the same house and service for about 10 years!

We had American Home Shield and didn't have any problems with them. We no longer have a home warranty because it started to not make sense for us. Our air conditioning went out last summer. They only replace with what is already in your home, so we ended up buying it on our own so we could get a more energy efficient one. I just didn't like a lot of things about the home warranty companies, so we stopped. But I didn't have any specific problems with American Home Shield. You have to realize what you are really signing up for which is why there is so much dissatisfaction with people.

American Home Sheild.
They're the best of them all.
It's paid off for us. Just read your policy. You do get what you pay for, but some people do get confused about a home warranty policy and thus, get mad.

Hi - We have used both American Home Shield and Home Warranty of America. Both of them tried to deny claims of ours. We finally got American Home Shield to pay on them. Home Warranty of America finally settled with us on our claim, but we still had a huge out of pocket cost on something they honestly should have covered. I was VERY UNHAPPY with their customer service. They made it so difficult to talk to someone. They seemed very dishonest too. If I had to choose between the two, I would definately go with American Home Shield.

Hi E. - after glancing at the responses, I'm going against the grain here. I'm a realtor so I'm careful about which companies I place my buyers with. After years of negative public image, home warranty companies are making the effort to change. Most now cover pre-existing conditions. I have used Home Warranty of America (www.hwahomewarranty.com) and there's a new kid in town called One Guard that looks pretty good. www.oneguard.net If they ask, tell them D. J. with Keller Williams referred you. Good luck.
