Looking for a Recommendation on a Diaper Pail?
We currently just have a simple, garbage can style diaper pail with a lid, and we use regular garbage bags to line it. I love it, but the problem is our whole house is starting to stink like diapers! Any recommendations on a diaper pail that helps keep the odors to a minimum? What about the diaper genies? They're expensive, but are they worth the money?

Hi,
We have the Diaper Champ and I love it! It is about $29.00 at your local Babies R Us, but it is well worth it. I think it is easy to use, and you can use any trash bags in it, you don't have to buy special ones. It doesn't eliminate odor completely but it definitely keeps it to a minimum.
It is very easy to use, our 2 yr old likes to throw away her own diapers and she can work the handle...unlike the Genies, I could never figure that thing out! I highly recommend this product! Good Luck!

I have a diaper genie and it is a little bit spendy but it is really amazing it only smells when you open it. It stays sealed well. the refills are about $6 but they often have sales on them. We had a cheaper something at first and it ended up being so smelly. So I invested in the diaper genie 2 and it is great!

Don't waste your money on a fancy diaper pail..., no matter what it is always going to smell, unless you wrap up the diapers before throwing them away. When my son was younger I used scented diaper baggies/sacks. You can get a box of 75 at the Dollar Tree for $1. Babies R Us brand is reasonable too.

I will tell you that we just throw all the diapers away in the kitchen garbage which goes out everyday anyway. For poopy diapers we ALWAYS put them in a ziploc bag before we throw them away. Some might say that is a waste of ziplocs but it was easier than trying to have special bags, etc. for an actual diaper pail.

I would also recommend staying with the garbage pail style. We only put the pee diapers in there and change it every few days, spray it with lysol, etc. The poopy ones go directly into plastic bags and into a different garbage can in our garage.
We had a diaper champ, but the seal broke and we ended up with the pail which I think works better anyway.
