Can anyone recommend a Preschool with a good 2-3 day per week program for four year olds? I would like one near Ridgmar, Ridglea or Westover Hills but would travel farther for a great school.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for helping us find a preschool. Everyone's recommendations were a big help and we visited every school mentioned. In the fall, my grandson will be attending St. Stephen Presbyterian Day School in the TCU area. Other schools that seem to have very exciting programs are First United Methodist Church downtown and Reading Friends off Camp Bowie.

I live in the same area and had a hard time finding a good preschool. My daughter has been going to the Montessori on Camp Bowie for a year now. It was the best decision we have ever made. I know that have all different types of schedules. It has been great for my daughter and she LOVES going to school everyday! The website is http://www.montessoricampbowie.org. Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!

Not as close as you indicated but three programs I can recommend are: University Christian Church Weekday School (TCU), St Stephen Pres Weekday School (near TCU also) and 1st United Methodist (downtown). I'm a teacher, have taught at UCC and St. Stehen and my kids went to UCC. Good luck! Get your name on waiting lists--most places have a wait. Good luck!

It's a bit far, but try the City of North Richland Hills. They offer MWF or TTH a.m. or p.m. and it's very affordable, by a certified teacher. Call ###-###-#### and ask for Mr. Newman to get details. Good luck!

We must live near each other and I too am looking for a good program for my 3 yo for fall this year and in the same areas.

I haven't done any major research but I've had a family member recommend the program at University Christian Church and she also said she had heard good things about the program at the Presby church in downtown FW. Both the science museum and FW zoo have programs but they would obviously be geared more towards science and animals vs. learning numbers/letters/reading etc.

Also, the January issue of FW magazine listed all of the private schools in the Tarrant county area. If you can find a copy of that, that would give you a good start in finding something other than a standard daycare.

I highly recommend Ridglea Presbyterian Preschool. My oldest daughter attended for a year before we moved to Arlington, and we loved it. Debbie Gargis is the director and a wonderful lady. The contact number is ###-###-####.

A girl I use to baysit went to the preschool program at the big church by the zoo. I cant remember the same. It was Monday and Friday and she learned alot there. I think it was only like 160 a month or something. They followed the school district calender.

You should look into -or visit- the folowing great preschools in your area: UCC (University Christian Church); First Presbyterian Church; Reading Friends; and Kinderplatz. They are all WONDERFUL. It just depends on how much you want to pay in tuition and what kind of program you want for your child. I am a teacher... I recommend actually visiting each one to see where you and your child might be the most COMFORTABLE. Good Luck!

I also recommend Ridglea Presbyterian Church Preschool. It offers T/H, MWF, or 5d attendance options, plus optional aftercare (12:30-2:30). My son is in the 4-year old class and the kids are well prepared for kindergarten. Enrollment gets tight at many of the schools. If you're looking for this fall, I'd contact schools now!
