Hi Mamas!!

I am starting to look for a preschool for my son, who will be 3 in August. I want something that is reliable, actually teaches the kids something and a reasonable price range. I'm having a hard time thinking about him going to "school" but I know it will be for the best. I just would like some thoughts on some preschools out there that you have some experience with. We live in Castle Hills, so looking around the Lewisville-Carrollton area. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

I sent my daughter Charlie to Quail Valley on Edmonds Lane in Lewisville. She was there from the age of 2 until 11. The people there are wonderful. She was reading by age 4 and learning. The price is very reasonable and the facility is clean. Tell Ms. May Charlie's mom sent you. I have sent many mothers there.

We also live in Castle Hills and I have a 5 yr old that goes to Lakeside Montessori Academy in The Colony. I really like the Montessori style of teaching. What I also like about the school is that it is very balanced in terms of academic focus and extra-curricular focus. They offer sports, drama, computer classes and more right on campus during the school day. Our son enjoys it immensely and I will likely put my daughter there (8 months) when she is older. Good Luck!

Hi C.! We have a lot in common. I live across the street in The Homestead and am in the process of building a home in Castle Hills! We're expecting a daughter in February. Anyway, I have my 2 y.o. son in MDO at CLA right now, but plan on sending him to Glen Hollow Day School starting this summer. Have you checked them out? They are a tiny little place on the corner of Josey and Hebron next to the library. I have a couple of friends who send their kids there and they have been very impressed. It has a reputation for being very strict and very academic. Definitely worth checking into if that is what you are looking for.

We send our 3 year old DD to Lakeland Christian Academy in Lewisville. They have a great academic program, and my DD loves it. We pay $175 per month for 3 days a week.

My sister in law had our niece in Primrose and they LOVED it. They still rave about it and are encouraging us to do the same when our son gets to that age. She came out of there more than ready for school. She is now 8 and is reading Jr. High level books. HTH. Good luck!

Lewisville Christian School is great! Both of my kids attend and love it. It has been around for many years and is very well established. They will be taking applications soon for next year and there is usually a waiting list so if you are interested give them a call. ###-###-####

We have recently moved our children to A Child's Garden Montessori School and we love it. They are fabulous, have a wonderful program and are reasonably priced. They do everything from music to arts and crafts to reading prep, etc. They are at Old Denton Road and Whitlock. Their webpage is: http://www.acgmontessori.com/ I strongly recommend taking a look at them; the owner/director is Donna.

Good luck and if you have any questions, please free to contact me.

I used to live in Carrollton and my son attended Holy Covenant United Methodist Preschool at Josey & Frankford. To say it was a great preschool is such an understatement! The atmosphere there is so loving and kind. I totally fell in love with the from the day I was filling out registration forms. My oldest son went somewhere else so I had something to compare to.

I also subbed one year for the school and taught one year for the school. It is a fantastic school. Added bonus to you would be that there are a ton of Castle Hills families who take their kids to that school. I also know several of the teachers who work there and they live in Castle Hills. My best friends works there. I would have stayed had we not moved 25 miles north (too far to commute). Anyway, I recommend you check it out. The director (Sheryl Toney) will be more than willing to give you a tour anything you want to see the school.

Anyway, good luck with checking out schools. Just an FYI, most preschool do registration in February for the upcoming school year.
