My husband and our 2 1/2 year-old daughter moved from Kansas City to Lewisville a couple of months ago. I'm anxiously looking for some adult conversation, and also a play group for my daughter. I was hoping to find one that is meeting this summer, as well as in the fall. Any advice would be much appreciated.

C.,

I don't know of any playgroups but you might want to consider MOPS in the Fall. I joined this past year and it was really good to hang out with other "Mothers of Preschoolers." There is also class for the children. I think we start back up in August. We meet at First Baptist Carrollton. If you want, I can send you an email reminder if you send me your email. Mine is ____@____.com
I lived in Emporia for two years of high school and absolutely love KC.
I also own a nanny agency, Mom's Best Friend so if you ever need a babysitter let me know!
Take care,

K.

I don't really live anywhere close to Lewisville but this says that your in the Colony and I do live sort of close to that. The reason that I responded is because I grew up in Wichita, KS and spent many weekends in KC. I also went to school at KU. I moved here knowing no one and it is really hard. If you need someone to talk to or want to know where things are let me know. I'm always looking for a new friend.

Hi C.,
We have a very small group of 3 of us that get together weekly for playgroup time/walking/hanging out at Kid Country (park) or shopping etc. We each live in either Coppell/Flower Mound. Do you work? We are each SAHM's and have children ranging from 12months to 20 months (and one mom is actually expecting early June). We would love to meet you/get together sometime when its convenient for you. Send me an email if you are interested further and the location is convenient. Alternatively, we used to use the following site -- www.seemommyrun.com to organize ourselves and set up official calendars, however we have recently lost a couple of members who have either moved or literally moved on to other groups. So, for the time being, we have recently started relying solely on email to keep in touch and plan things. And there is another website that is very helpful -- www.meetingup.com that allows you to join groups in your area as well -- however, www.meetingup.com charges a few to the organizer of the group. I have personally be a member on both sites and would recommend them both. K.

Hi C.! Did you ever pull a group together? I, too, have a 2-1/2 little girl and live in Flower Mound (close by). I'd love to meet more moms with kids the same age.

Let me know!

Warmly,

S.

Welcome to Texas. There are several "Mom's" groups for you to join in the Lewisville area. I am a mamber of the Far North Dallas Early Childhood PTA (fndecpta.org). There is also a Lewisville group and a Carrollton group. These organizations host monthly Mom's Night Out, weekly playgroups per age group and other activities (holiday parties, couples activities, ...).
I've listed the Far North Dallas website above or you can feel free to call me at ###-###-####. Take care!
