Looking for a Pediatrician Who Has 24 Hour Advice Nurse
My family recently moved here from out of the state and we are looking for a pediatrician's office that offers a 24 hour advice nurse. Our pediatrician back home had this and we used it ALL the time with our first child. I am now expecting a new baby and am looking for a similar service out here. Any recommendations? I called KidCare and they charge $25 per call. Cooks and Baylor say they do not have anything like this. We live in Keller and are willing to drive a fair distance to get the service we are looking for. I'm looking for a pediatrician who gives us "warm fuzzies." Thanks for your help.

My pediatrician is Dr. Pierre Robert. He is out of Baylor in Grapevine. (Close to Keller) His office is right in the hospital's professional building. He is very warm and fuzzy with my 5 month old, and very calming for me. She is my first, and I was freaking over everything early on! He has a 24 hour triage nurse line, and I have used them MANY times in her first 3 months! The triage line is $10.00 per call. (You only need to use this after hours, as the nurse at his office will answer questions during business hours. Moreover, Dr. Robert himself takes telephone call in M-F from 8:30 to 9:00am) I highly recommend the practice. His number is ###-###-####.

We use both Dr. Eric Hopkins and Dr. Andrew Kilgus (one for my son and one for my daughter) who have an office in Grapevine. They are part of the Cooks Children's network of doctors and they have an after hours urgent care line you can call where a nurse will call you back with info regarding your child's condition. They don't charge for it either. I guess it's not really an "advice" line, but any time I have a health related question and it's after hours, I call and I always get a call back.
Just this past Saturday, my 8 year old daughter had a very nasty looking bug bite we called about and the nurse had us to go the Cooks Children's Urgent Care Center in Hurst because the bite had become infected and they said it couldn't wait until Monday to be treated.
I've also called about fevers, excessive crying, rashes, colds, cuts, bruises, croup and a host of other things that have come up after the doctor's office has closed and I've always been given great information and advice each and every time.
I'm guessing all Cooks Children's pediatricians offer this service but I guess you would have to call the individual offices to be sure. The number to Dr. Hopkins and Dr. Kilgus is ###-###-####. It's a very busy office so when you go in, you often times have to wait, but I love both doctors and I love the after hours urgent care line. I don't know what I would have done without it.
Good luck!
