I am moving from Ohio to McKinney, TX in mid June. I have a 2 year-old and an almost 3 week old. I am looking for suggestions on a good pediatrician near McKinney. I will have United Healthcare as my insurance carrier. Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks for everyone for all their great pediatrician suggestions. I ended up choosing Dr. Sutton at Pediatric Healthcare Associates of McKinney. We've already been (for my 2 month old's wellness visit and for a sick visit for my 2 year old). Both visits went great. I really liked Dr. Sutton and the staff. Everyone was VERY friendly and very knowledgeable. I am very happy with my choice.

Raintree Pediatrics in Allen. They are ALL great. We usually see Amber Holifield, she's a PA, but truly great and I tend to be a bit choosy!! A fun office and I never have to wait long.

I recommend Dr. Suzanne Dugopolski at ABC pediatrics: http://www.abcpediatrics-mckinney.com/default.asp
It's a small practice, so we've always seen her, and she's always seen us as soon as we need her--even when we called from the car needing stitches, and she said skip the hospital, come right here, and saw us immediately! Our DD was born with a heart defect, and she's also been GREAT with a medically complicated case. Good luck with your move!

Here is a link for a GREAT family practice doctor.
Personal MD
Dr. Nelson Simmons

http://www.personalmdonline.com/index.htm

We just combined all of our healthcare needs into 1 practice. We have been there for 3 years and feel we got really lucky when we found Personal MD. We went to a few local pediatricians with my first son and started seeing Dr. Simmons before my second son was born. We will continue seeing him for as long as he will have us, no need to go anywhere else.
We cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Simmons and his staff. Definitely worth a look!! If you have any questions please feel free to ask!! Best of luck with your move.

We have lived in McKinney for 3 1/2 years now and I still have not found a pedi that I like. I take my kids to Richardson Pediatrics in Richardson. It takes me about 20 minutes to get there but it is well worth the drive. Our doctor is Norah Randles. The other doctor is Steven Crowe. All of the nurses are RN's who have at one time worked in the pediatric ICU. We always get in the same day for sick appointments, Dr Randles will call me back personally if I have a question. I worked with Dr Randles in the ER at Children's Medical Center in Dallas in the ER (I'm a pedi RN for 10 years) and she is wonderful! Very smart and definitely knows what she's doing! PM if you have any more questions and welcome to McKinney! you'll love it here :-}

We have United Healthcare as well and my son has always gone to Dr. Burton at All About Children Pediatrics. Even with getting shots (which he screams about after each one- always) he loves the doctor. If he gets hurt and you ask him "Do you want to go to the doctor?" he always say "yes!". He asks to go there all the time. They're awesome. Just don't make appointments close to lunchtime- they seemed to get backed up and you have to wait a long time (first thing in the morning or after lunch is better). We also use the PA's and such and like them as well, though I always request Dr. Burton (call ahead at least a month for a well visit with him).

I strongly second Dodi's advice. We take our little girl to Dr. Sutton, but she has seen everyone there at one time or another. And they're all wonderful. Even the girls up front are always very friendly and helpful. I also have United Health Care. Good Luck I know when we first moved here finding a pediatrician was the hardest thing I did!

Pediatric Healthcare Associates of McKinney (http://www.phamckinney.com/about/index.html)

There are 4 doctors there: Dr. Kessinger (my daughter's doctor), Dr. Frank, Dr. Sutton, and Dr. Menchaca. All of them are great. They also have a nurse practitioner Sonja Estep, who we've seen once as well. Because there are 4 doctors, it's fairly easy to get in the same day to see one of them. They also have Saturday hours for sick children. And I have UHC as well, so I know they take that insurance. :)

Also, hopefully you won't need it, but just in case: keep in mind Acute Kids Urgent Care (www.acutekidscare.com). They have a facility on 121 in McKinney. This is for after hours care when the doctor's offices aren't open.

Welcome (in advance) to McKinney. My daughter turned 2 in February and my second is due in September. I would not want to be moving at this time. Good luck!
