Hello-
I have a 10 week old son and am looking for a pediatrician. I am not happy with our current pediatrician and was hoping I could get some recommendations of doctors in this area. I am looking for a pediatrician who will not rush to a conclusion and will not make me feel rushed when I have a question. Also, I would like to find a doctor who isn't always jumping to writing a prescription. It seems like the doctor I currently see is constantly wanting me to get some sort of medication for my newborn. An example is my son had baby acne. The doctor wanted us to fill a prescription and use it, when we just waited a couple weeks and kept his face clean and it went away on its own. I don't want a doctor that I have to constantly second guess.

We love Dr. Catherine Macycko who is in Orland Park and Olympia Fields. We also really like Dr. Irons who is the other pediatrician in their office. I feel comfortable when Connor sees either one.

We use the pediaticians out in Orland park (we live in Joliet) there is three of them in the practice and we have BCBS insurance their names are Dr. Span, Dr Borenstien, and Dr. Germino. we has had to see all three (due to sick visits) and I really like them and feel like they take their time.

I am not sure where you live but we use Dr Li at Northwestern Peds. She is in the same office as Dr. Weissbluth (the sleep guru). He did not take our insurance so we went to her. We ended up loving her and wouldn't change for anything. She doesn't rush to perscribe and has never made us feel rushed or hurried, even when we call her in the middle of the night. If you have any specific questions about her or her practice let me know.

Love her. Recommended by my OB GYN, he sends his own kids there. My sister and a friend also switched to her practice and we are all very happy. The other Doctors in the practice and staff are wonderful, too.
She's very calm, never seems rushed, asks lots of questions to make sure she's getting the whole picture... And best of all, my daughter likes her.
I like Ken Porter, MD in Lemont. He makes you come in to the office to check out your complaints and often it's warranted and he finds the infection he was concerned about. He will not just prescribe antibiotics though. One visit for my daughter we decided she had allergies and he gave me my options for treating those. I am a PT and used to treat his patients before I started using him for my girls. He is child focussed and will also let you know if you need to do something different. Good luck in your search.

When we were in Chicago, we went to Northwestern group and saw Dr Chandra-Puri. Each pediaitrician in the practice is wonderful and truly listens to your questions, concerns, etc without pushing meds.
Now that we are in Orland Park, we see Dr Germino as noted in another post. He too is very caring and takes his time with each little patient while also listening to mom's questions and concerns.
We go to Dr. Brian DuMais in Orland on 151st & Ravinia. I switched when my second child was a few months old and we absolutely love him and his entire office. He will sit and talk w/you for as long as you need to feel comfortable w/out ever making you feel rushed. They get you in pretty quick for appts, his staff is awesome, I highly reccomend him. Dr. Nica in Mokena is good. I am quite high-strung and like things very concrete and he gets that. ..We've even talked about it, and there have even been situations when I didn't like his advice and we talked about why and other options. He was not insulted by this. He treats your child first, and then asses the child-in -environment or in other words he --gets that you see your child 24/7 and also run a household...so he is pretty realistic. Try HomeFirst- they have offices in Naperville and Orland Park.
The doctors there are all about not pushing medications right away, and finding other solutions to various problems.
We saw Dr. Rossi when our daughter was first born, and he was great!
We will be seeing Dr. Zumhagen at our next appointment. I've heard he's good, too.

We go to Dr Brian Dumais. He is fabulous! Takes his time with us, answers questions and does not write a prescription for everything! Also, what I like is if I have a question, I can call the office and the nurse will answer it for me or ask the doctor and give me an answer over the phone. He is great if paged too.
