Looking for a Pediatric Dentist - Naperville,IL

I have a 3 year old boy who has enamel problems on his teeth and we recently visited a pediatric dentist in Naperville (Dr. D. Jones) who was strongly recommending we take our son to Edward Hospital so he can be anesthetized for the procedure! This seems drastic to me - and although I don't want my child to suffer, I also don't want the risks of anesthesia or the potential trauma of being in the hospital for his teeth. He needs 3 crowns and other work done. Does anyone know of a pediatric dentist who will help him through this without needing the hospital but also who won't make him afraid to visit the dentist?

What can I do next?

I travel a long way to go to my son's dentist. I live in Darien and she is in West Chicago. It is a pediatric dentist office West Chicago Dental Care ###-###-####. They are big on not performing unnecessary work on children. Try them out.

Hi V.

I use Grove Dental out of Wheaton - Dr. Jay G Kolb
I live in Oswego, so it takes me 40(ish) minutes to get to his office, but my kids never mind going to the dentist - even though they have had several procedures done in his office.

My kids are ages 4, 5 and 7 - so we've been there several times over the past 4 years and have had no problems whatsoever.

The office staff is really nice and they are great to deal with when it comes to insurance.

Dr. Kolb must be in his early to mid 50's - he is actually the pediatric dentist that I went to as a child, that is how I "found" him.....

I would highly recommend a visit to his office. For me, it is a bit inconvenient, but it is worth it.

Actually, Dr. Jones is usually the dentist people GO to when the other dentists want to put kids out without reason. So for him to say that he needs that, he wants to make sure that it's done right and IS trying to help your son from being traumatized (just MY opinion).

I hope that you can get help for your son...

I am a surgical tech, and i used to be an ENT specialist along with Oral surgeries. When the children come in to the OR, it is usually best for them, to my understandingm, because no toddler will sit still for a dental procedure. Also, it is safest for them to be out, anesthesia, no sudden jerks or movements. I am not saying that your child in particular must have Surgery, but there are benefits to it in the operating room. But i would defintiely get a second opinion.

I went through a similar thing about 2 years ago when my daughter was 3. I went to my regular dentist and he sent me to this one who handles children. She very good and only gave her some gas to calm her while they worked on her teeth. She had to have 1 crown and 6 fillings. The Pediatric Dentist named Denise L. McAllister
444 Northwest Hwy. Ste.245 Park Ridge, IL.60068 ####-###-####.
I told her it was emergency and she got her in right away. I hope that she can help you out. I know that putting my daughter to sleep to get work done on her teeth was not something that I wanted to do. Good Luck!!!

Dr. Khurana at Valley View Dental is awesome...They specialize in pediatric dentisrtry as well as everything else. He is awesome and easy to talk to, and the hygenists are great with kids. My son has been going since he was 2 1/2. I drive from Oswego, that is how highly I thinkof them.
