Looking for a Montessori School

Redeemer Montesorri in Las Colinas - 114 and Rochelle. A lot of kids in my neighborhood go there and I have heard nothing but good things about it.

I recently moved here to TX (Keller/Roanoke area) from IL 8 months ago. FInding a decent quality Montessori program was paramount for me! That is how I narrowed down areas for homes...by the school's location! Anyway I did alot of research and visited several Montessori programs. I can give you who to contact there and any other information you may desire. I'm very happy with the school! My son is 7 and in 1st grade here. My daughter is 2.5 and when she turns 3 in August is enrolled in the primary program to start the end of August. That is when school starts, end of August for the next year.

My daughter is in the pre-k program at the St. James Episcopal Montessori School in Dallas. We love it. The teachers and staff are very friendly.

Montessori Episcopal School in Lewisville is a gem of a program. My twins, now 23 mo., will begin their "Intro" class this fall. I choose the school after being impressed with their child-centered philosophy and curriculum. (Not all Montessori schools are created equal...) The Intro class, for example, has a ratio of 10 kids to 2 teachers and they "teach separation." Instead of just dropping your kid off in a strange place, they start with a home visit from the educator (!!). Then, to ensure an easier separation, they divide the class of 10 into two groups of five and ask the five children to come to school for only two of the four hours for two weeks to get used to a school setting and being away from home. I think this is a very sensitive approach and one not found at any other school I looked at in the area. For more information, I've reviewed MES under mamasource "pre-k." Good luck! J. R.

While it is not a Montessori school, I HIGHLY recommend Miss Bloomingdale's Academy. You can't find a better school in my opinion!

I'm a transplant from Pittsburgh, Pa!

Two of my children go to Lakewood Montessori on Mockingbird -- I can't remember the website offhand, but you can find it by googling "Lakewood Montessori" "Dallas".

It's a great school that goes from age 2 1/2 through grade 6, with plans to extend the Upper Elementary to grade 8. I have a 4 year old and a 9 year old attending, with our youngest starting within the next couple of years.

The staff is wonderful, the class sizes are very good, and the parents are the warmest, most involved group of people I've ever met.
