Looking for a Mommy and Me Swimming Class for 5Month Old

Try your local YMCA. Ours has parents and tots classes, yours may too.

All 3 of the Lincoln way campuses have mommy and me swimming classes that will be starting in Sept. North Campus is just opening this fall and it is on Harlem. The brochure just came in the mail 2 days ago so give them a call if it isn't too far for you to travel.

You can check on Chicago Park District as well. Classes are $15 res/$20 nonres for 6 weeks. Indoor pool at Ridge Park is where I go and am pleased with. That's in Beverly near 95th and Longwood Drive. I dont think anything starts under 18 months however. You could always do an open swim with your infant though.

I am a first time mom of a 1 yr old boy and live in Palos Hills too! Last winter, I researched swimming classes for my son. Unfortunately, I was not happy with what was offered in the area.
What I can tell you is that I ended up going to Bolingbrook Park district and was EXTREMELY happy. They have a curriculum that is clearly stated at the beginning of the session and then what will be covered and achieved at each upcoming session. In my opinion, it is definitely worth the drive and extra time and gas money. Many of the other classes in the area were simply water acclimation classes, where you would just hang out in the water and sing songs with your baby. If that is what you are looking for, you will be happy with the offerings in our area, no problem, if not....research elsewhere. Feel free to write if you would like to talk further! Oak Lawn has a baby swimming class that I took my daughter to when she was 6 months old. They use Richards High School pool on Central and 103rd.

The Bolingbrook Park District has AWESOME baby classes!! They are so amazing and FUN! The baby learns some safety techniques too! Plus after class you can dot he parent / tot swim time too! Happy Swimming!

The Lincoln-Way classes are in-district ONLY, which you and I both are not. I was really disappointed, but I guess they fill up so it makes sense. Homewood Flosmoor has a great program I am in right now with my son that has kids of all ages. I think it's really nice and highly recommend it. There are moms and dads, and lots of the people take it over and over to continue to teach their kids how to swim.

I live in Matteson and really had to do some searching for classes, so I wish you luck! I know some places have a 6 month age requirement, as well...

I'm not sure where Palos Hills is but I put my son in the Bolingbrook Park district class and we loved it.

I took my daugher to Tinley Park when she was 6 months. The class is really cute with songs and free play time, she loved it. The class is located at 171st and Harlem. IT is called Water Babies.
