Hello,
I'm a new mother looking for a "Mom's Group/Playgroup" in the Colleyville, Southlake or even Grapevine areas.
My hubby (of 9 years) and I were transferred down to Texas this year from Michigan. I'm planning on being a SAHM until my son (born 1/26/2008) is about a year old, then I'll be returning to my career.
We love it here, we have great neighbors & my hubby has wonderful co-workers, however I'm looking for some moms out there with children of around the same age as mine. Some days I find myself really missing adult conversation...and it would be great to get together w/other moms who are experiencing the same daily trials as I am! So anyway, if anyone has an opening in their Playgroup/Mom's group please let me know. Thanks! ~J. J. (AKA- Sleepless in Texas, thanks to my 2 mo old! LOL!)

So What Happened?

Thank you so much to everyone who offered some fabulous suggestions! I did find a great playgroup from the website "Meetup.com".
There are so many different organizations & groups there to choose from. I would suggest it to anyone looking to join any type of social group.

I love Mamasource! Thanks again to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to help me:)

~J.

Join Mom's League. Its a group of women and children who have a meeting at a church in Southlake. They will also put you with other Moms and age of child together so that you can meet weekly for playgroups. When my son was younger we loved Mom's League and I am so happy us Moms are still talking as we raise our now 10 year olds. I don't have any phone numbers for you to call but its GCS Moms League.
Good luck.

Check out Mothers and More. They might be exactly what you are looking for. Women who have changed their career path to best serve the needs of their family. www.mothersandmore.org is our national site, there is a local (very active) chapter in Greater Lewisville. You can find their website linked through the national one.

Welcome to Texas!

I don't know if this is exactly what you're looking for, but there is a Gymboree in Southlake. They have infant classes. Check out their website: www.gymborreeclasses.com
Good luck! It's amazing how well you've transitioned. My husband and I have a friend who moved to Texas from Michigan about 6 years ago. He likes it here, but he can't wait to get back there.

Hi J.,

Have you tried Gymboree? There is one in the Kohls shopping center (Off of 114 and 1709 in Southlake) right next to Cool Cuts for kids. They have great "momy and me" classes for you and your little one, you will meet lots of other moms and they alwys have Mom's night out and other "mom only" events going on as well. I worked at Gymboree in the past and can tell you it is an amazing place to meet people and to give your kids a jump start on thier way to success.

There is a MOM's Club International that serves Southlake, Trophy Club, Westlake and Keller and another one that serves Grapevine/Colleyville. The Southlake one is meeting on Monday April 14th at Christ Children's Haven in keller at 3:30. They welcome guests. It is only 25.00 per year dues. They are very active...playgroups, Mom's night out, Kids Day out, Dinner Club, etc...but you only participate in the things you like. They usually meet at Southlake Presby Church, but this month is different as we are considering the Children't Haven for this year's philanthropy. I am a native Ohioan and I LOVE it here too. I have 2 boys (almost 2 and 5). Best of luck.

Welcome to Texas!! I moved here from Ohio in late June of 2007 and found myself looking for the same thing--friends for my son and some adult conversation for myself. Check out meetup.com and look into Moms and mocha-- a great group of ladies and kids who love to have fun--and mommy and me playtime--another wonderful group. They both have great activities planned during the week days and some in the evenings. Hope this helps!

There is a mom's group just getting rolling the first Thursday of the month at The Nestingplace in Grapevine on Northwest Hwy. They have been meeting now for about 5 months and have around 10 moms and thier kids ranging from 6 weeks to 2y/o. They have planned sessions and get togethers after and during the month so this might just be great for you.
call ###-###-#### for more information.

Try MOPS (Mom's of Preschoolers). I believe the national website is mops.org. There is one in Southlake (it might be a Keller address but it's on the edge of Southlake) at Cross Timbers Church that meets the 1st and 3rd Weds of the month. I went for 2 years and it is a great group of moms. Look online for the contact information.

Try looking for playgroups on meetup.com. Do a search under playgroups or moms and you should find one in your area. I know there are several in your vicinity. Oh and you have to become a member to join the group(s), but it is free to register and most groups don't have member fees, but you will have to look around to find which one suits you best! Good luck and hope this helps.

Hey, I have a two month old born on the 25th! I also have 2 older boys. Anyway, do you belong to a church or anything? That is where I have found things to do and great moms to hang out with. I don't know of any playgroups specifically, but there are a few churches with ladies groups you can attend and also a few churches that have playplaces where you can meet other moms. The local libraries also have reading times where you can meet moms. There is also a group called MOPS that meets at churches in the area and they are fun and have childcare. I hope that helps... It is hard when they are so young to find anything to do. Good Luck

Hi J., WE too moved there from the Midwest (Chicago area) we like it, but still miss being north and we've been here 4 & 1/2 years mainly because there is no family around.
Here is the link to International MOMS Club. http://www.momsclub.org/welcome.html
If you e-mail them they will put you in contact with the membership director for the chapter closest to you. I'm not sure if it will be Melissa in Keller or if there's a group closer to you. They generally break into age groups for weekly or bi-weekly play dates and the Keller chapter meets one time a month at a local church.

Hi J.,

I am a member of the Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake, Mom's League or GCSML for short. There are about 150 0f us moms and I do the baby group this year. We have monthly breakfast meetings the first Friday of the month at St Martin-in-the-Fields Church in Keller on Pearson Lane from 9:30-11:30 am. Just go down Southlake Blvd and Turn Left onto Pearson Lane. The church is on the left. Come to our meeting this Friday. I am also planning an event for the baby group to go to Emler Swim School this month and in May we are going to the Cry Baby Matinee at the Central Movie Tavern in Bedford. We will be winding down in May for the summer, but resume in September. You can go to www.gcsmomsleague.org for more info.

Hi J.,

I know you posted a while ago, but I just saw it and wanted to invite you to take a look at our new working moms group in the Keller/Southlake area. Looks like you're already on Meetup, so it'll be easy for you to check it out. We're a new group and our activities are primarily in the evenings and on the weekends to accomodate the work outside the home mom. We have mom's nights, couples nights, and family playdates. The link is: http://workingmoms.meetup.com/5/ I hope your transition to the area has gone well!
